    Extended fronty brake lines dana44

After recent mods to my front suspension, including new, longer travel shocks, my front brake lines are now acting as "limit" straps. My knuckles are '76 Chevy K10, with high steer arms. They use a 7/16 banjo bolt to attach the flex brake lines. I'm currently using RE1552, 22in lines purportedly...

    XJ frame and 3-link mounts

I'm in the process of "plagiarizing" various threads, in the hopes of fabbing a 3-link for my '88. I'm stuck on what course to take for the upper control arm mount at the frame. I'm planning a UCA of ~30 inches, using a 7/8 rod-end. S0 the mount will be ~ 7inches in front of the tranny cross...

I've done a TON of searching for a decent write-up, to...

    clutch master cylinder qoustion

My OEM clutch MC is showing signs of leaking around the boot---again! Happened a number of years ago, causing untold havoc with my electrical system. Anyway, back then ended up buying a replacement from local Jeep dealer. Didn't pay any attention to bore size, just bought one for an "88 Laredo...

Booster and master cylinder upgrade notes

Finally got tired of "pushing and praying" when trying to stop my '88 Cherokee. Before this mod, my brake system consisted of '76 1/2-ton Chevy brakes forward and '86 Cad discs aft; both mounted on Dana 44's. Moving up to larger calipers in the front, and adding discs in the rear necessitated...

    brake booster upgrade questione

I've picked an MC, now I'm looking for a booster that will: A) fit into my '88 with "reasonable mods, and B) fit my chosen MC--'99-04+ Dodge Durango, 1.125 bore I know, I know--use the WJ booster. I would, but it appears the Durango MC won't fit the booster. And why the Durango? It has three...

WJ Booster and MC upgrade questiones

So I'd sure appreciate someone who knows the answere to give me a little help. Does the WJ booster interfere with the...

    bilstein shock orientation

Just received some new Bilstein 5125 series shocks. I'd guess the valving would be affected if I swap them from "stem up" to "stem down". So to get the 255/70 valving--with the 255 for compression, which way should the shock be oriented? Or does it matter?

    oil cooler thermostat

Anyone using a thermostat to control engine oil temp in conjunction with an external engine oil cooler? I understand the theory regarding cold weather application, but are they necessary if nominal temps don't go below, let's say, 30 degrees fahrenheit? Any input would be appreciated.

Another When can you put in 4-wh drive?

I feel a little stupid asking this--but, here goes. First, I've noticed putting it into 4-wheel drive on standard, dry hard top, I got horrific binding and had a hard time getting the transfer case into neutral again. Then again, I've been up and down some really steep granite boulders while...
