Starts when cold, starts when warm, but not inbetween

Been out driving today, and the Jeep is running fine. As long as the engine is warm, there is no problem. The engine is purring like a kitten, and my rig is performing good. I'm going to wait for the parts I've ordered before I do some more work. After I've changed the IAT and O2 sensor, I am...

Starts when cold, starts when warm, but not inbetween

I have both Haynes and FSM from GreatLakes, so I guess its time to start reading. Can I use my digital Fluke multimeter when testing the camshaft sensor?

How can I check cam sensor?

Starts when cold, starts when warm, but not inbetween

Hair drier and coolingspray is something I've used alot when troubleshooting electronics. Never thought of using it on my car. Good idea. As for the CPS it was replaced last summer, so it should be OK. I have also replaced the TPS, and cleaned out the throttlebody along with the IAC and IAT...

Starts when cold, starts when warm, but not inbetween

I'm going crazy here! My Jeep (-94 XJ 4litre HO) has developed a strange problem. When the engine is cold, and hasn't been driven for a while, it starts and runs just fine. If I let it run until it's nice and warm before I stop it, it will start up again just fine. But if I start it cold, let it...

    Trouble code 27

Help me!! Today my Jeep was very hard to start, and when it finally did, its only running of 4 or 5 sylinders. It is throwing troublecode 27, wich meens some problem in the injector-circuitry. Where do I start? My Jeep is a -94 XJ Limited with a 4litre inline six.

    New flexplate doesn't fit

The plate fits in everyway, except for the length of the teeth. That makes the diameter a little bit larger, and my starter is the one getting problems. The starter-ring(or what ever it is called) is 10,7mm high on the original plate, and 12,5 mm on the new one.

    New flexplate doesn't fit

The starter is mounted on the converterhousing, so there is no shims. The teeth on the new plate is 1.5mm longer than the one in my car. The starter has a partnumber that fits with the original, so it seems that the problem isn't there. As far as I know, there is only two kinds of flexplate for...

    New flexplate doesn't fit

I am in deep sh#¤%t! All my trouble has been caused by a cracked flexplate, and so I ordered me a new one. The plate came, and the mechanics put it in place. So far, so good. But when the car was started, the starter gave out a loud screeching noise for every turn of the flexplate, and I could...

    My engine died today

My Jeep has been running fine now for a few days, but today it died again. And this time it didn't start anymore. So I started to look for the reason, and finally pulled the CPS. When I got it out, it had some metalshavings stuck to it, and there was some scratch-marks on it too. I cleaned the...

    My engine died today

Another piece of information... It seems like the road condition has some influence. It dies on bumby roads. Could it just be a loose connector?

    My engine died today

My wife was out driving today when the jeep just died on her. It started again, and the died once more. When I got to it, it started again, and I could drive it home. There I tried to stop and start a couple of times, and every once i a while it would not start. Checked the distributor, cleaned...

    Really loud engine knock

Hi there! It is beginning to get colder here in Norway, and with the cold, comes a scary sound from my engine. It sounds almost like someone bangs inside the motor with a hammer, and it runs rough with a valve-ticking noise. After a little while, the banging dies down to a hard knock every...

Cracked Flexplate / Loose Flexplate bolts?

Maybe a stupid question, but I ask anyway. What can be the consequence of driving with a cracked flexplate? I suspect mine to be cracked, but can't afford to replace just now. Part-prices here are quite stiff compared to the US.

    CruiseControl won't work

Everything about the vacuum checks out. Went through the entire system a couple a months ago. I had no vacuum at all, caused by a clogged vacuum-connector on the intakemanifold. All fuses are OK. My Check Engine Lamp reports '55', so nothing seems to be wrong. Is there anyway I can force the...

    CruiseControl won't work

Hi folks! Why won't my CC work? Vacuum hoses are OK, so are all the fuses. Please give me som checkpoints... My rig is a -94 Ltd with a 4l HO.

dumb ? about the vacuum cannister

Check the vacuum-connector on the intake manifold. I had the same problem with everything controlled by vacuum. Looked everywhere for leaks, but it turned out to be that connector being clogged. Unscrew it and check it for dirt.

    Trouble(?)codes again

Maybe I'm making a problem out of nothing here, but here it goes... Finally got my 'Check Engine' light to work, and for the first time my car could tell me what is wrong with it (Why my A/C and CruiseControl won't work). But all it tells me is that everything is OK!!???! I get code 55 no matter...

    Change valvelifters

Probably a stupid question, but here it is: Is it possible to change the lifters without removing the cylinder-head?
