OK - I checked the fuel rail pressure:
After sitting 8 hours - 0 PSI
After turning key to ON position without cranking - 40 PSI
After starting at idle - 45 PSI
At 3000 RPM - 45 PSI
It did not have the cranking problem when I checked the pressure above. It has the cranking problem only when...
My '99 is cranking a long time (15 sec.) before starting, only sometimes. When it does start, it idles really slow for a few more seconds before running normal.
I don't think it's the check valve because when I shut it off and try to restart it does it again right away. I would think if it was...
Sooory I was away. I got it smogged - it's on craigslist w/pictures. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/cto/1175719525.html
(it's on there for $2900 but I'll let it go for $2600)
For sale. 89K miles. Power windows, locks. In the past 6 months - new BFG Long Trail TAs, major tune up, belt, hoses, coolant flush. Reg good through May 2010. Some minor dents and dings. $2600
Yes - the mini fuse in the PDC was blown. It is the corner fuse towards the front/passenger side, 15A. Now I only need to find out why it keeps blowing.
I'm having trouble getting the foglights to work on my '98. I changed the switch and it didn't fix it.
I believe from the wiring diagram, the purple wire is supposed to have 12 volts when then headlights are on - it doesn't. I thought that maybe it could be the relay, so I swapped that with...
I have the older style RE fixed upper control arms - the type that use the factory style bushings.
These bushings did not last very long. I was wondering if their small super flex assembly would fit these arms (RE3791). their web site says:
The small size is a direct replacement for factory...
I have the exact same issue! Mine put out about 90 PSI. I think the regulator they supply does not work.
Mine also came with the wrong plug (it was either male or female and was supposed to be the other).
If you used the same seller, they claim a 1 year warranty. I've since tried to contact...
'98 XJ with 156K miles.
Just want to confirm with the experts, the symptoms are:
1. Slight vibration that has gotten gradually worse over time, only at 70+ MPH.
2. Worse vibration/growl that has happened twice. Can be kind of felt through front passenger floor. 1st time started at low speed...
Yes, that was it. The crankshaft was hitting the side of the pump. 4 hours later it was all fixed. Another thing to check when installing a high volume pump. I wonder if they could even be used with a stroker.
My '98 was running low pressure, so I installed a high volume Melling oil pump. I had the typical clearance problems, needing to pound on the pan and also bending the pickup up a bit.
When done, I hear a clanking noise like the crankshaft is hitting something. With a stethescope, it is loudest...
