About 8 months ago my engine imploded while driving, sudden knocking, worse knocking then silence, no smoke that I ever saw. Got it home drained the oil and found all the coolant and oil came out together. Pulled the plugs all were good except #6 which was destroyed. Pulled the head and 1/4 of...
I have the brown dog mounts and engine side brackets. It all seemed pretty tight as it was not sure if the bigger alt would still clear but I will think about that.
Flex plate i was going back and fourth on. I was going to inspect mine and decide. I couldn’t find many brand options to pick...
I couldn’t find a simliar thread but sure they exist.
I am swapping my engine out for a stock Hesco motor and just trying to think of things I shod do while the engine is out...

Ok 2018 has been rough on me. My xj threw a rode late in 2017 and now my backup commuter is down.
1995 lexus sc300 na auto 214,000 miles 🇯🇵
First sign of trouble was after about 30 minutes of freeway driving, I got off at my exit and the first redlight I had suddenly rough idle(rpm dropping)...
My poor xj blew up today and I am wanting to find a good source for a used engine. Not looking for rebuilt or anything but have no idea who to check out. Anyone recommend any place in the phoenix/florence area?

Looks like 214k miles was all my engine had in it. Just checking if anyone has something laying around. I'm in a bind suddenly and just want to swap something in abd get her running.
I have always wondered if there are downsides to LL bulbs? They claim twice the life and are usually the same price or pennies more from what I remember. I always seem to buy the LL when there's the option but when they are sold out I don't seem to ever notice a difference other than feeling...
My first air tool was the ingersol rand thunder gun and I love it. It has alot of power and seems well built plus has that cool nascar sound that just make you want to pull the trigger for fun a few times.
I don't have an inline oiler. Always just add a few drops into the tool before and after...
On one of my other cars the mirror attaches to the glued on piece using tiny ball bearings and a weird plastic piece. I guess the engineers wanted the most complex and likely to fail solution.
Sorry, nothing usedul to add other than maybe scuff the glass a bit to give the glue a chance to bite?
I always put my rim on without the center cap and dropped it back on the ground and then breaker bar with added length of my floor jack handle. Well, that was until I got air tools, now it is just the squeeze of a trigger ;) .
I took some time to check over things and found my front passenger axle shaft ujoint is bad and has play. It fits the location(front left) and seems to fit the type of sound(I think it is vibrating the brake dust shield). However it makes no sense that if I sit at idle for 2 minutes before...
Then again, it can't be anything axle related because it goes away when I idle in park. Transmission then, it has to be hmm.
Sorry thinking out loud. :gag:
I checked some stuff today after work.
Started and put in drive and caused the tinking. Drove forward with tinking and shifted to N, no effect(same sound). Then while in N I reved the engine, no change(same tinking at same speed). Seems that shows it is not engine related?
Stopped and...
Correct. It is the people sticking improper light sources in housing that are not designed for them. The people with HIDs in stock halogen housings that blind everyone and aren't even throwing useful light down the road for themselves but wow they sure "look" bright and "cool". /rant
