Grab the top of the Mcphearson strut and drill the center hole out to 2.10in, it will fit around the stock bump stop shaft and it will hold the coil perfectly. Simply make or find 4-6 "J" bolts and fasten them through the holes already in the cap to hook the coil to fit INSIDE the Mcphearson...
Personally, I would heat it prior to welding for two reasons, you have better chances of a good solid weld with maximum penetration and it will also boil any grease out of the steels pores and burn it away (contaminants weaken welds).....then I would cover it up when I was done so it cooled...
Everything I've found states they're all very simple straight forward swaps, the only tricky parts to the 12 bolt is it only supports an ARB locker and there's only a few model years with the appropriate width.

I like the multiple small fans and your idea of relocation but I'd make some changes. While at the boneyard, I've noticed a lot of the older pickups have small fans positioned like yours but they were mounted from the factory with small steel rods or strips of steel the size of plumbing...
On the slim chance I would go through the extensive pains of a V8 conversion my engine of choice would be one of GMs aluminum block engines most commonly used on the Corvettes.....high horsepower, high torque and lightweight. I'd have to be in total love with my Cherokee to do it, otherwise it...
Would you say the Grand Cherokee skids are better? To me, it definately looks like the transfer case skid is better with the only downside I see being the large cleanouts that could be a stick catcher.

I got the itch to go salvaging today and came across some items that raised a few questions, please chime in and add some input.
First off I found a 93 Grand Cherokee with the fuel tank skid, transfer case skid and front skid. I know the tank skid works on XJs and after some test fitting I...
You don't even need to remove the mounting bolts to install a bastard pack, all you had to do was remove the u bolts, drop the axle and mix/match your donor leafs below the main that was still fastened at both ends.

All you have to do is pull the fuses for the ABS and you're done. Along with your ZJ discs swap in a 95-96 brake booster and master cylinder as well....that combination will stop any tires you ever put on it.
Wm
No, the seperated reservoirs were used on both single and double diaphragm boosters...one section for the front brakes and the other for the rear. It wasn't until the later models that they started using a small plastic tank on top of the master cylinder so you didn't have to fill each chamber...
I'm reviving this moldy oldy to see if anyone has an updated write-up or up to date urls for Old_Mans original write-up and photos? OR what would be even better is if someone had a list of junkyard parts that can be used to build a slip yolk eliminator! Thanks in advance!

79-97 Fullsize Dodge van rear main leafs (longer than XJ stock) to correct shackle angle. Detailed links found here: http://jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=581348
Mid 90s Fullsize GM pickup shackles for lift and improved shackle angle.

Impressive, I'm sure the lightweight vehicle riding on them helps quite a bit too.........I've been looking for a Sami to build and use as a daily driver, that 30-35mpg would be a huge advantage over my beloved XJs.
Wm
I was reading on the Jeep Forum that the GC control arms aren't nearly as good as the stock XJs, apparently those used on the XJ are able to flex and twist then return to normal (U channel)......those used on the GCs aren't as forgiving and wind up ripping apart.
The Samurai/Tracker/Sidekick...
For those of you that have used the Thunderbird coils/McPhearson strut top plate combo......did you simply remove the three mounting bolts and leave the plate to float around or did you drill three holes in each fenderwell to bolt it down as it was in the Thunderbird?
Wm
I checked these out today but didn't pull them, have any idea if it's DOM tubing or are they solid? What lift height would they be used for, 8in?
Anyone know of a boneyard substitute for CAs on a 3-5in lift?
