Thanks Lawson, my 98 shows different readings, it's open at 0 and stays at about 68 ohms at idle. This is for a new one, I didn't check the old one when it was in place.
Hi all, does anyone know the resistance to pressure values of an oil pressure sender for a 1998 XJ? I've poked around the and can't seem to find any information on this one.
Probably not your problem, but if your battery is on the way out your car won't be able to hold idle without stalling out. Happened to my '98 and a new battery solved it (it was still starting fine).
I just did my leafs a few weeks ago on my 98XJ that has lived almost all of its life outside in Oregon. Sprayed all of the exposed bolt ends in Kroil for a couple of weeks beforehand, and didn't have a horrible experience in removing the old bolts (passenger side bolts were a lot harder to...
Thanks Tim, what year is your FSM from? Mine is for the 1999 XJ.
The same TRE is used for the left outer (at the steering knuckle) - ES3096L, as is used for the drag-link to pitman arm, the latter of which is specified as 55ft/lb. Maybe the steering knuckle at the wheel isn't designed to...
I installed new steering components today in my 1998 XJ, doing the ZJ tie rod upgrade. Components used were Moog problem solver (I also replaced the drag link and it's TRE that connects to the pitman arm.
I torqued all of the castle nuts to 55 ft/lbs (from the torque chart spec in the 1999...
I noticed a gap in the stabilizer bar link connection the other day on my 1998 XJ, and I am not sure as to what is causing it. I thought maybe the nut had backed out, but I put the torque wrench on it and it is at the proper torque.
Here is what caught my attention (notice the gap on the...
Thanks again for all of the suggestions, they are appreciated. As it turns out, I had to modify my design halfway through, and didn't end up having to weld anything while it was on the vehicle.
Here are some pictures of the thing I made actually in use, bolted to the front bumper...
Aye, that takes more skill than I possess, I pretty much limit myself to 12 gauge or better with stick. I'd love to get a MIG someday, but fortunately most all of my projects are doable with stick.
Oh heck, I wouldn't even dream of stick welding on an auto body, that's gas or MIG territory.
What I'm building is a thingy made from angle iron that will bolt on the bumper and stick straight up, so I can drive a 21' stick of pipe home without it flapping around too much. Ideally I'd make...
