SPXJ-
Love the fab work. Very skillful. Seen many of the drop down tire carriers on bigger rigs (JKs), but never with a swing incorporated! Its such a great idea, I am going to have to borrow some design cues. What tubing did you use for the hoops? If you could go back and change something about...
Finished the mounting setup. BUild a cross frame that mounts into the factory location. The angle iron is at the exact level as the back edge of the bumper lip. When we put the bumper up for the final time, it was sandwiched so well it didnt move even without bolts.
Can definitely post up a few more tonight.
I used the hardware from the tow hitch that the PO had installed. Basically utilizing the nut strip that all the bumper fab shops sell for the XJ. From there, I chopped the tow bar in order to use bracketry and welded up a short section of rectangular...
It is on and works like a dream. Going to be building up corner protection so the fit and finish isnt up to what the final product will be.
The hatch does open and clear. Had to trim the bottom corner of the fiberglass about a quarter inch. Just the very edge of the corner where it is a single...
Started a new project. Awesome opportunity presented itself, soo I am going to fit this ARB TJ Rear Tire Swing Out. Will make sure I get enough pictures if ya'll are interested.
Hey Guys-
Running out of time before I need an emission test, but the check engine light is on.
Getting Code 42 when I pull them. Info I have found says:
42 Automatic shutdown relay circuit open or shorted
42 Fuel pump relay control circuit
42 Fuel level unit - no change over miles
OR
42 Z1...
Funny, cuz all I'm seeing in the video is a broken locker. Guess there IS a difference. IMO all I see is one locker that is inferiorly designed.
Good attempt, but still inferior engineering (or lack there of, since copying isnt actual engineering). New name of this thread should be RIP locker...
Why would they test an old version of the ARB that has been improved? Apples to apples is the currently available version of both, Yukon's style just happens to be 15 years old.
Everyone loves Dirk! Everyone loves OME.
NOT everyone loves RRO.
The ride with the TJ coils will not be quite right. I have OME V8 ZJ coils and it rides very very stiff. If you know what you are getting into, I say go for it.
There isn't a fit kit, so I would expect selling it might be a little difficult. I am going to do some measuring. I think that I might be able to use the bar a base for a homebuilt one. Has anyone ever heard of anyone trying a similar preposterous project?
Let's say I have access to a free ARB TJ rear tire carrier. How much work would it take to adapt it to fit our XJ platform if I decided to undertake such a challenge
I have heard from a few buddies that there may have been a change in Optima's production. They have revieved a few batteries direct which have not held a charge. Something may be fishy...
