I finally got around to doing this.
I bought the Crown bits:
But when I took the steering column apart it looked like this:
These are the parts I need replacements for -- a bearing retainer and cover that fit in the end of the steering column tube:
Does anyone have a lead on...
THANK YOU!
I didn't even realize this was a bearing
Looks like there may be a 4th adapter piece too(?) And possibly different Crown parts for ->1994 and 1995->. I'm going to pull the column this weekend and see what's in here to begin with
Didn't even think of the dealer (Merkur syndrome)...
Hello NAXJA
'95 XJ, no tilt steering, no airbag.
Not sure if these are the original steering parts -- numerous prior accidents
The steering column is comically loose as it passes through the firewall.
It started with a little pop that I thought was the track bar.
As of yesterday it grinds...
With the misfire gone my HC #'s improved dramatically:
IDLE - PASS
HC ppm 118 (limit: 220)
CO% 0.70 (limit: 1.20)
CO2% 12.3
O2% 3.4
HIGH IDLE - FAIL
HC ppm 56 (limit: 220)
CO% 1.97 (limit: 1.20)
CO2% 13.8
O2% 0.4
But my CO went over the limit on the high idle test. And I really don't feel...
- I tried to wrench out the o2 sensor with PB blaster but if I put any more force into it, the downpipe will break off about a foot downstream. I might as well cut out the downpipe and replace it. I would need a new cat too as I don't think I can weld to this one anymore. I'll try again...
Hi Robert
When I needed an engine I posted a "WTB" thread in the classifieds section of my NAXJA chapter (NAC in my case) and I got one within a week. I've actually acquired two complete engines using the NAXJA classifieds with great results.
Hello everyone,
I have found the various NAXJA threads on people's experience with emissions failure and repairs a good source of information.
(in fact I've had such great experiences with NAXJA that I am finally going to join after I finish this post)
So I thought I'd post my experience with...
I agree, it sounds like your signal is rectifying on your wiring harness inside the vehicle body because of a crappy coax cable or a bad electrical bond between antenna mount and the vehicle body (ground plane)
To be sure.. the antenna ground connector, spring, mount and coax connector at the...
Sorry about that ridgerunner, I forgot about this thread. The PM said something to the effect of "can you meet this weekend?" :)
Anyway, Danman hooked me up with a complete axle drum to drum (less the parking brake levers hehe). I swapped it out last week. Loving the new gearing..
Also a...
Bump
Trying to get in touch with DanMan2k06 -- I'd like to drive down and buy that axle from you!
Still looking if anyone has one for sale
Thank you all
I'd be happy to throw you $100 for it. It is a long drive so it will take me a couple weeks to get the time to get down there. I will be in touch! Thank you sir
Hi Rich,
I was able to look at it today in daylight
Seems like the pinion nut backed off completely into the U joint and driveshaft dropped out with yoke still attached.
The rear U-joint on the DS was destroyed in the process and the driveshaft got a 2" long, 1/16" deep dent diagonal to its...
Hello NAC
I'm looking for a complete Chrysler 8.25" rear axle, preferably with brakes still intact
I busted my diff today and I am looking for a quick axle swap to get me through the winter (95 XJ NP231 AX15)
I am in NJ exit 105, cash in hand, willing to travel
Thought I'd ask here first...
