What's the stupidest thing you ever did that you would admit to?

I can't believe anyone would actually complain about such an infraction. I, as the guilty starter of this thread had no idea such an otherwise helpful, friendly, group would even consider this such, else I would not have started it. I do tend to conform and follow rules whenever I can. geez, if...

Idles Fine but when you touch the throttle it sputters all over the place

"We replaced the coil, distributor and finally replaced the CPS ( crank positioning sensor ) and that fixed the problem." if you replaced them all at once i would agree you should check for "dizzy" indexing.

    renix O2 sensor testing

If you are saying your connector NEAR the O2 sensor, that is not what i am asking. If you are saying I should look for those wires at the firewall on either the left bundle or the right, I will persue it. My sensor has been disconnected since i bought the Jeep. 30k miles later, when gas prices...

    renix O2 sensor testing

that's at least encouraging. didn't wanna go that route because- those same wires go thru the large pair of bundles UP TOP.. you didn't happen to document what color they were at the harness connector down under did you?

    renix O2 sensor testing

I'm talking about the inconvenience of checking near the sensor, or ecu. The wires go thru the bulkhead connector, and that's where I'd like to troubleshoot from...

    renix O2 sensor testing

Ok, I could crawl under and splice into the feed connector, - or - Does anyone here know the color of the wires into the bulkhead connector on the firewall? I'm suspecting the large Orange for heater feed, and maybe the grey for ECU input? I have seen different colors on different PDF files and...

starter solenoid engages, but no crank

It probably doesn't crank right when you jump it because it requires a very good, tight connection for that circuit. But you have eliminated a ground I would think. Not sure of your year but with Renix, I would go to the thing (help me guys) with all the fuse links attached just rear of the battery.

starter solenoid engages, but no crank

you have a main battery terminal or connection bad. or less frequently, the starter or battery itself. if your lights dim greatly also when you try to start it, that's (connections) where to start. If it won't start by jumping the battery directly,at the post terminals, it's likely a connection...

    WTF Worms!?

since we're off topic - When I was seventeen, in the 70's I worked at a shop which installed two-way cop radios. We found roaches, pill bottles, and loose pills shoved behind the rear seat when installing the tranceivers in the trunk. And it was a blast to deliver the cars 20 miles to the...

    What sensor is this?

the pic in your other thread about holes in the engine shows it's location well. other folks guessed that in that thread. Mines not hooked up in my '88, so far she runs well enough to not worry about it.

    TPS voltage question

The middle pin will only have voltage with the TPS connected. It feeds a variable voltage (depending on the throttle position) back to the ECU.

It's NOT the flexplate...what is causing this sound?!

Did you remove the plate when you looked at it? not being a smart ass, but the cracks are fricking tiny! Mine had none anywhere obvious around the outside, but from bolt to bolt. They felt like crud buildup to the finger. The noise would go away at first under load. When I layed it on a surface...
