Like it says, I have a Flowmaster 40 series muffler with a centered single 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2" outlets. I bought this a few years ago for my Dodge Dakota but never had it installed. Can't use on the Jeep so I figure I might as well sell it. I need an exhaust for my Jeep so the money will be...
Those self tappers are a PITA when you use a socket and rachet. Not bad but took me a lot longer than an hour to install mine. But it was worth. They are sweet rails. My front winch bumper should be here in a a few weeks. AJ emailed me and said he had started on it but was waiting on some new...
Yeah, was I glad to find this thread. I took the carpet out of my 96' and I bet you couldn't guess that most of the rear and the passenger side front floors were rusted. I know, I was as shocked as you are...lol...so anyways, this thread has given me lots of great info and the confidence to...
When I checked it, it was warm and in park and I also did it in neutral. Levels before the fluid change was just above the lower safe mark and of course after the change it is at the top but there was no improvement. Someone else on another board suggested the torque converter and several others...
Fluid is fine. I actually changed that and the filter. Here is what I found today.
Today was the first time I drove it since this happened and when I left the house all was good. What I discovered while out on the trail was after the Jeep got warm/hot it would loose power but only in Drive or...
Try http://www.logansmetals4x4.com. I almost went with them but ended up ordering one from AJ a couple days ago. Only bad thing is he is behind on orders so I am looking at a 4-6 week wait but he did say he is getting some help so he is hoping to catch up sooner than that.
Also, just FYI...tranny has about 229k miles on it and I have no service records. Supposedly the PO (not the oringinal owner) worked at a transmission shop and while he had it flushed and filled the transmission. I can not confirm that. The tranny fluid looks slightly brownish but does not seem...
Will do. Thanks. Also, I started it up this morning to move it to the carport and it was back to normal. I did not take it for a spin, just to move it but no issues. I did find some rust and leaks >:(
Drove home from school and all seemed find. Pulled into my driveway which is very short but kinda steep and as I started up the Jeep just lost power. Engine seemed to be running fine and revving normally. I had to give it ALOT of gas to get it to move and make it up to the top of the driveway...
Honestly I have no idea. I am far from a mechanic though I am starting to learn a little bit. The setup was on the Jeep when I got it but was installed by the previous owner who is a mechanic. I will see if I can find out but in the meaning time you might ask around too in case I can't find out.
I am going axle shopping this weekend. If I find a new axle I will be doing to switch out in the next couple weeks. I will then have for sale the D35 rear axle out of my 96' XJ. It is locked (Aussie) and has had a disc brake conversion done. Checking interest for now and will post when it is...
How can you tell the gearing in the axle? Is is located on the door plate or on the axle itself? Something in the VIN that would say? I would also like to find a 8.8 that is 4.10 so I only have to re-gear the front axle in my XJ rather than both.
And again, how would you know if it has the LSD?
I am in the same boat except I have the turdy5 in my Jeep and I am trying to decide whether I want the DIY bolt up ease of the 8.25 or the hassle of finding/paying someone to weld and help install the 8.8.
