Is propane good enough for heating stuck bolts?

I've experienced the rusted leaf eye bolt to the sleeve. The welded nut may break loose. Had to cut a hole in the frame for a replacement nut. I didn't have a welder at the time so the hole had to large enough for a wrench to hold the nut.

    front axle seal

1996 Xj classic. Dana 30 inner axle seal. The axle shaft is worn just enough where the seal rides that it leaks dif oil until the level drops far enough that the seal isn't needed. In the past I found a "problem solver" seal. It moved the seal just enough to ride on a new spot on the axle...

    Oil Pressure Pegged Out

Need to change fuel pump what else to do?

I recently did the pump in a 96 xj. You do not have to drop the tank unless you want to flush it out. The pump, pick up "sock" and in line filter were about $100. The access is on the front of the tank facing the rear axle. Be careful when removing the pump/sending unit assembly. I was only...

    Vibration issues

Carefully check your tires, wheels, brake rotors and drums. Put it on jack stands and let it run in gear to see if there is any whoble. Have you checked the allignment? It is a jeep and will make noises and vibes especially if you use it off road.

    Motor question...

with 207,000 miles it sounds like it is in decent shape. Does it pass emissions? If yes, I would wait until it smokes constantly. A long block would be a good fix if you want to put the 2-3K into an 21 year old vehicle. 1 qt every 500-1000 miles is not bad, i've seen much newer cars use more.

    Jeep shuts off when wheeling...

Sounds like the classic heat soak. I read that insulating the injectors and fuel rail will help. Chrysler even had a TSB on it. Others have vented the hood, either louvers or spacers at the hinge. Something to let the heat out of the engine bay.

Too many kinds of antifreeze out there. Which one?

Ethylene glycol is what the book says to use. That's the green stuff. I like the full strength and delute with distilled water.

    trans cooler

If you can get one from a grand cherokee . They are a plate design and displace heat better than the tube/fin style.

Is it worth swapping the an LP for HP30?

I picked up a D30 HP at the u pull it for $100. Had the same gear ratio as what I was replacing. That said, the strength difference is minor. Both axles use the same gears, shafts, jonts, etc..( same years, older axles had smaller outer shafts) The real difference is the LP runs on the coast...

Did you ever solve this problem? I have a 00 xj with ABS that the pedalis spongy. Thinking of ways to cycle the abs pump. Dealer wants almost $200 to bleed brakes. Read that hitting brakes hard on dirt road would cycle the ABS, then you can bleed the brakes. This may take several times to...
