Side note on motor jobs: Assuming you dont do motor work: you should be able to have a shop R&R a motor for 1500 out the door (700 for motor, and 800 for labor). Never pay more than that.

find a better one with 70k. My Dad is selling a 2001 with 70k, ORIGINAL OWNER, and he has this thing not just looking brand new, but running brand new. This one never had the head problems either. This is what you want to buy, from an original owner, with miles under 100.

I am with everyone else on this. BUY IT BACK, make it a trail truck, and buy a different daily driver (perhaps a V8 ZJ to tow it with!)

Bob, one more quesiton for you: Did you notice after loosening it that the jeep wandered at all on the road? While my steering is really stiff right now, the jeep is SOLID straight on the highway, doesn't wander at all. Did anything change for you with this? I would rather deal with the stiff...
