Perfect thanks very much. That's basically what I thought, although for some reason I was totally blind to the front intake hole and couldn't figure out how air got into it (I'll blame it on poor lighting :speepin: )....there is a bolt missing from the bottom of the airbox so there's a little...
Before I ask a really stupid question (I know this one probably sounds pretty stupid)...can someone fill me in on the workings of the air filter and housing ....ie air flow direction, holes etc. I'm replacing some of the the vacuum hoses and on my 90 XJ and something just doesn't seem right.
When someone breaking into my90 XJ popped the lock on my passenger side door, bending the sheetmetal in the process I just decided to do away with the lock all together. Some bodywork and 'poof' you never even realize it was ever there. It's not like you ever unlock that side from the...
My problem ended up being a leaky fuel injector dripping onto the manifold and smoking like a bastard as someone suggested and then getting sucked up the steering column with the air flow when driving. Finally got around to changing the injectors today. No fuel smell now, no smoke. :wierd...
Finally got my injectors from ebay (supposedly they were lost in the mail and he had to resend them) and changed them today. Took a couple of hours but went off without a hitch, no leaks, runs like a dream. Now I won't smell like I work at a gas station every where I go...yeeeehaaaawww. I...
Thanks everyone and for the links. I ended up using a very thin cutting blade on a dremel and was able to cut the pins between the top and bottom part of the hinges leaving the full hinge in fairly intact. As I will not be taking the doors off again I thought it would be better strength wise to...
Thanks guys but I want to keep the doors on in the end. My main goal here was to replace the worn pins as they give way too much and my door is sagging. I have the door off and the both parts of the hinge is still on the jeep with the worn pin inside. Is there no good way to get the pin out...
These pictures are down. Can anyone tell me the best way to get the pins out of the hinges? I have my doors off, the both parts of the hinges are still on the jeep but I can't seem to get the pin out. I figured they would just pop out like a house door hinge but clearly I was wrong...can they...
Hey all, do these injectors look right for my 90 XJ? The first one is leaking and I figure I may as well replace them all.

Yes I see smoke. It's the smell I'm questioning. It's enough that I have to open my window and you can see the smoke wafting up out the window. I'm just not sure whether it's burning smoke or exaust or maybe some other engine 'byproduct'. I'll put it this way, if I don't do my window down it...
It doesn't really smell like burning wires. The entire thing kind of smells a little gassy whenever it runs so it's kind of hard to tell. But if anything I would say it doesn't really smell much like physical burning ie wiring.
It's currently at my parents house (I left it there while I'm...
I did a search and found a couple of threads on this but they didn't really narrow it down for me. My Cherokee is a 1990, and on acceleration smoke comes out of the steering column. I'm not sure if it's smoke or exaust or what. Could it be exaust coming out the steering column but no where else...
I know that xylene is a very 'hot' solvent. Be careful it doesn't soften up the primer you have on there, it wouldn't surprise me if it does. I'd use either xylene or acetone sparingly. Don't soak it or you will have a mess of gummed up primer.
Hi all, I have a 1990 Cherokee XJ,6 cylinder automatic. It has idled kind of high and erratically since I got it a year or so ago and recently has started shifting up too early, down not early enough etc etc (basically it's shifting into the wrong gear at the wrong time).
From my searches...
