    Oil pressure gauge

Update: After testing the ground, sensor and ignition source wires I determined that had a non working gauge. There are two resistors on the gauge, one 75 ohms tested at 42 and 5 ohms tested at 5. Replaced the 75 ohm with no luck. Found a OEM new in box gauge on Ebay all is good now and...

    Oil pressure gauge

Lawsoncl, Yes there is full battery voltage at the sensor wire. Tested both on RUN/OFF and RUNNING. No difference full voltage at the sensor wire. At this point I am thinking that there is a bad connection to the gauge cluster, but not likely since ALL the other gauges are working but most...

    Oil pressure gauge

Not entirely sure of perfect grounds on this old guy but will inspect and clean them, I checked and replaced the fuse as number 1 troubleshooting item. All of the other gauges are working perfectly. It's got that bulkhead connector if that is the c101 you reference? I cleaned out that bugger...

    Oil pressure gauge

Green and everyone thanks for your responses. I thought about grounding the sensor wire but it is carrying full battery voltage 13volts + running so would I not see some sparks or burning up a wire, blown fuse etc.?

    Oil pressure gauge

Do gauges besides ground or power issues suddenly fail? If so anyone out there willing to part with a working gauge if I need one?

    Oil pressure gauge

I did replace it with the correct sender a Wells PS 133 from Rock Auto which was the same part number I ordered a couple years ago when I broke off the terminal on the original, which worked fine until this last month. Just tested the resistance on the one that I replaced and 1 ohm @ 0psi is...

Thanks I'll do some searching out the grounds and was thinking along that path. FYI all other gauges working normally.

    Oil pressure gauge

89 XJ 4L bone stock suddenly after a short drive last week the oil pressure gauge stopped moving, stuck at zero psi. Confirmed that I have adequate oil pressure with tester so guessing this is electrical. New sender and no change any ideas?

    Accessing CPS/CKPS

Tim is on track here. Just have a buddy run the wrench from above while you direct the socket onto the bolt head from below. A headlamp is good thing. If worried about dropping a bolt use a magnetic socket insert.

    HELP! heat soak problem

Try replacing the coolant temperature sensor, it should have two wires. This was my problem in an 89 4.0L and mine is in the block water jacket, yours I believe is in the thermostat housing or on the drivers side block. Many on here ignored this advise in the past but it's what fixed mine...

    prep for winter

Head to Pateros and then to Alta Lake State Park in the Methow Valley. You will not be disappointed. Gets really cool at night during this time of the year but not freezing temps. This is where I where I grew up and try the steelhead fishing in the Methow at Pateros. Good luck dude.

    prep for winter

If you are in below 32F weather definitely go with a 0 to -15 F washer fluid, I have not seen anything less in Alaska. 10wt-30 oil is good to go and I am currently running it until the really cold weather hits. Your antifreeze is the most important for engine protection and should be fresh...

    89 renix charging issue

89 4L auto has a strange issue when the defrost is on hot or high outside temps with sun on the dash. When and if either of the above are present the volt gauge will drop into the red and I know that it is not charging since I have checked it under these conditions. But if I pull back on the...
