Update: I found that the old radiator (wasn't the original) did not have the isolators. It didn't occur to me that anything was missing, because the one I replaced didn't have any, and it didn't move. Anyway, since almost nothing was open yesterday, and the places that were didn't have the...
I just went out and checked the old radiator. I has no hardware or rubber pads or anything still attached to it. I carefully checked to see if I had any fasteners left over, or had done anything wrong, and I can't find anything.
Thanks for the help guys! I ended up cutting the old quick disconnect off, and then splicing a piece of trans line onto it w/ the stuff from the cooler kit. Now I have a problem w/ the radiator moving. I started a new thread on this, since it seems like an unrelated issue. Did you have that...
Sorry to need so much help on this, but I'm stumped. I put in my new CSF radiator from DPG Offroad. Except for a problem w/ the trans line hookup, everything went pretty well. Now that I've got everything put back together, the top of the radiator moves front to back. I can move it about...
Just had another thought. I have an aux transmission cooler I planned to install at the same time. I believe it's flexlite or flexrite. Anyway, it comes with some flexible hose, and fittings. Seems I'm supposed to tap into the flexible line anyway as part of the cooler install. So, I'm...
In the middle of installing a CSF radiator from DPG Offroad. 2000 XJ, auto trans. The trans lines fit into two places on the driver side of the new radiator, like on the old one. Upper one is a hard line with a screw on fitting. No problem there.
On the bottom, the new radiator has an elbow...
I've found writeups on changing front U joints in a D30, but not on how to tell if they're bad.
2000 XJ sport. In doing my pre-trip check up on the XJ, I took a look at the U joints in the front axel (D30). I remember having at least one side replaced by a shop a couple of years ago. I...
I took a 4 hour trip in my 2000 XJ, after just having the AC recharged. Started hearing some noises from under the hood that seemed to be worse when the AC was off. Got to destination, and mechanic friend pinpointed it as bearings going out in AC compressor. I noticed what appeared to be black...
I have 2 Hella 500's on my front bumper, and I'd like to add one or two more. I don't know much about wiring, but I think I can just splice the pigtails coming off the one(s) I want to add into the wire powering the other two (the wire that goes to the relay). Is that correct, or do I need to...
I need to replace my rocker panels, and I found this rocker panel replacement. They're $25, I've heard good reports on their stuff, and it's within 45 min drive or so, so I could save the shipping. Problem is it lists it as being for '86 to '95, and I've got a 2000. Does anyone know how much...
I'm trying to make some cargo nets for the rear cargo area of the XJ, and I need to know when XJ's started coming standard with rear shoulder belts. A friend has sent me pics of his 88 and 89, and they don't have them. His 93 does. So, it looks like sometime between 90 and 92, they became...
I have an 00 xj sport, that came w/out OH console. I bought one from a 00 xj, and I got the harness with it. I also got the bracket from the dealership. I'm hoping that all I'll need to do is cut the liner, and just connect the harness. I've read through this thread carefully, and I think...
I know this is an old thread, but it's the most relevant. I have this locker, and I'm planning to install it in March at my club's wrenchaton. I want to get all the things I'll need together beforehand. The instructions talk about checking certain parts for wear, and if needed, replacing...
Thanks for the reply. The only problem I could see was grit getting in there, and with teh constant rotation, it would wear enough slack in the threads to make the halves rattle, or eventually separate. You guys confirmed that. Thanks - I'll tighten them up!
I searched for an answer to this, but didn't find any. I installed Rusty's lower control arms, w/ adjustable ends. The ends screw into the arm about four inches or so, with fine threads. They come with a jam nut. I don't see the point of the jam nut. It seems that I'll have more flex with...
the CEL is on, and it is sending a code indicating a problem w/ an 02 sensor. I don't have the printout for the specific code on me right now, but I'll get it and post up.
Thanks for the info. Sorry if I wasn't specific enough. I guess what I meant to ask was, are O2 sensors like spark plugs, in that any one spark plug can go into any spark plug hole? From the above, it sounds like you need to find out which specific 02 sensor is bad, and then find the...
