According to the above link there is no code 45 for your year vehicle. You could either be reading it wrong or maybe its a code 55 which is what it should read at the end.
Not sure what year your XJ is, but it could be
Trans temperature/ Governor pressure voltage out of range. Less than 1.55 or above 3.73volts for temperature and less than .1 or above 4.89 volts. Trans temp. to high or low. OD switch input too low for more than 5 mins.
or just go here...
You said your gas tank leaks, so if gas can get out, garbage can get in. If you have garbage in your fuel filter it could possibly cause an intermittant problem as well. Its less than $10 and easy to change.
***Update***
Well I got it off and replaced it. I actually didn't get a chance to read any of these replies before I went back out there and started at it again. Patience is not one of my virtues. Anyway, I ended up just banging the hell out of it w/ a BFH until the bearing assembly turned...
Claliper, axle nut, and 3 bolts on back side are off. Had to use a 3 Jaw Gear puller and got the hub to come off, but it separated from the wheel bearing assembly. Now how in the world do I get the wheel bearing assembly off? There is nothing to grab onto and I am at a stand still. Please...
Mine did this a couple of years back. If I remember right it seems like the fuel lines were not holding adequate pressure, hence the reason you have to turn the key twice (cycling the fuel pump to add more fuel and pressure to the lines) to get it started. You might also want to replace the fuel...
Can't believe that no one else has responded to your comments, but here it goes:
What coalition you ask? Well let me ask you this. Have you been over there to see for yourself or are you just one of those suckers that only believes what they see on CNN? Well I have been over there and have...
That pic was taken up at the Cherokee Wildlife Management Area just north of Searcy in Wilburn. Its a decent place to do some wheelin when the river isn't 10' deep. We'll have to go sometime. I've never been on a "All XJ" outing before. I always get tired of waiting on these guys, but at least...
I've heard from at least 2 other people that they still build Cherokees in a China plant. Due to them being communists they can pretty much do whatever they wish. Has anyone else heard this? Nice XJ by the way.
How much weight can the stock rear bumper brackets hold. I scored a bumper/receiver/swing-out at the bone yard, but I had to cut the receiver brackets off of it to get it out. The last owner had welded the receiver to the bumper and all the mounting bolts were welded to the receiver as well. So...
No backspacing for me either. I rubbed in the front w/ the sway-bars off at full compression. I extended my bumpstops and had no more problems. Besides the lift and tow points front and rear, I really haven't done anything else to it. Unless you consider a throttle body spacer and K&N filter...
I can understand not buying something if you don't know what it is. You can always call them. I've dealt w/ a few people from Rusty's over the phone and he's a very personable person to deal w/. Just a thought. Good luck!
