Cherokee returns to the Chrysler lineup........????????

True...but I bet a lot of people said the same things back then. Renault is a 'euro, foreign, etc.' as many have put it in this thread...but because of that partnership, we got the XJ. I'm just saying that maybe this Fiat/Jeep partnership may not be so bad. But then again, if they base it off...

    AW4 Hard shifts when cold

sorry guys...if you do a search here, you'll find a lot of people argue for the use of D-II (or equivalent) only for the AW4 transmission. Otherwise, you might get what you are experiencing now. In fact, if you look at your drain plug (if OEM), it will have 'D-II' or something like it stamped...

    Stupid question about brake rotors

Also, once you get your old rotors off...take them with you to buy new ones...make sure they match up in 'hat' size. Some places have two different rotors and they are not interchangeable. If you already have new rotors...size them up next to the old ones before mounting. This could say you...

    Stupid question about brake rotors

I'm sorry, but I have a stupid question to your stupid question...is your XJ 2wd or 4wd? If 4WD, there is no center nut to remove... But of course, if it was 2wd and the rotor was on a spindle, it should just fall right off after removing the center nut...I would think so at least. So, skip...

    Quick and Dirty E-Fan Switch?

Not really sure...I guess it could, but can't say for sure. Relay jumper means just bypassing the relay...short (direct connect) the power source to the load...but make sure you use a sufficient gauge wire. A lot of current going through there. Also, don't remember if the 12V source is always...

    Quick and Dirty E-Fan Switch?

The e-fan will not necessary come on when the AC is turned on for 97+ XJs...see this: http://www.askamechanic.info/askamech2/content/view/73/47/ Also, unplugging the temp sensor on 97+ XJ will turn on the e-fan as a fail-safe, but it will throw a code and as far on my '00 XJ, the temp sensor...

Misleading DVM volt meter test results

Re: Missleading DVM volt meter test results Hey guys...in some DVM, if the internal battery is getting low, you will get 'false' readings. I once used a DVM to measure the voltage of a car battery and go 20+Vdc...WTH? Measured another car battery and got the same measurement. I though the...

Diagnose AC system? Low pressure good, not so much on High pressure

Actually, reading over your initial thread again...sounds like you've got a blockage somewhere in the expansion valve, maybe too much oil and/or bad compressor. As other have stated, it might be best to take it to a professional... Not sure about the pre 97 XJs, but on my '00, the compress has...
