Originally the front tires were BFGoodrich's. I noticed the wear and changed the fronts to Yokohoma Geolanders with no wear and it continues. Balanced both times.
I must elaborate on the wear Im seeing. After taking a drive and coming to a stop on pavement so the tire stays clean, it looks...
Alright, I've got a 2wd 96 Cherokee and found a deal on a wheel and tire combo from a friend. The wheels are Konig Verdict 18x8. The tires are 265/60/18's with an aggressive street pattern. I was previously running on 17" Dodge Charger wheels with stock-size tires.
The new setup is roughly...
With stock-size tires my 96 2wd is as follows:
1st gear - 0mph <<lol
2nd gear - 14mph
3rd gear - 25mph
TC Lockup - 40mph
4th gear - 34mph
TC Lock - 44-45mph
This is light load, little to no grade on the road, warm tranny, trans cable within a reasonable amount of good agjustment. When cold you...
The width of the wheels or the spokes? Lol
To be honest I'm taking quite a liking to them. They've currently got 265/60/18 tires on them. That equates to roughly 10.5" wide.
Coming from stocker-esque tires it's quite a difference, and the change in the final drive gearing is noticable on the...
Fuel injectors plugged in correctly? I took my intake/Exhaust manifolds off last week and had an injector plugged in backwards. Might be worth checking.
The connectors on my 96 have a bulge on one side and they should all face the drivers side. In my case it was the one that sits under the...
X3 on the shopped Jeep. Actually looks nice.
I guess I'll follow up with a mediocre second. It's on daily driver status while I pull my Impreza motor for repairs.

Flat-tappet cam. I had drivetrain noise at about 70k. Had been running 5w30. 10w30 and it went away for a solid 100k miles.

Care to mention why? NGK is a good plug, but I've consistently noticed a better idle in two stock cherokees over the course of 7 years, and have made many comparisons between the two plugs on both.
Not to mention that the majority of other 4.0 owners have had similiar experiences.

Yep, a tune-up sounds in order. First thing I check is the plugs. Most of the time when something goes wrong, I pull the plugs and if there is a small issue, they're red in spots. Seems really common with most issues. And I always use the Champion Copper plugs. I've never gotten close to a...
I have a 96' Cherokee Country (2wd) with the AW4 Automatic Trans and Inline 6 engine. Lately I've been having some trouble getting the engine ignition to work. Turning the key once (or halfway) turns on all my ac, sterio, etc etc, but turning it fully to turn the engine over, sometimes does...
I was going back and fourth through town, and when at my destination, and upon turning off the engine, I heard a great deal of hissing and steam was just billowing out under the hood for at least 4-5 mins. Luckily my end point destination was my Grandma and Grandpa's place, and he just happens...
I have a 96 XJ Country Aw4. Its got the 4.0 Litre engine, and its only 2wd. (Bear in mind that I am very new to most of this stuff...) I was wondering How to get 4wd, and\or what the options are.
I have heard of getting the whole front end of a different 4wd and replacing all the parts, but I...
Every day after school my dad drops me off and he goes to work. Almost everyday I get out, just after he has stopped and I smell that horrible smell. It's hard to describe, but I am pretty certain its coming from the exhaust or the rear end, but have no idea as to what it is. good luck tho...
Take this for jeep related... lol.
Santa gave me a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country, all stock, great condition, and the oppurtunity to be welcomed into the jeep community. Not bad for the first vehicle eh? (Its an automatic 2WD) With 134k miles on it, Santa paid 3200 on it and it runs like a dream...
