    Constant driveline whirring

Bushings in front end are new. Not sure how easy it will be getting the tcase into neutral at highway speeds from 4PT ... Not arguing just didn't think it would shift at those speeds. Have to try that one next. When I had the front driveshaft out I ran through all ranges with no real...

    Constant driveline whirring

I know, it's hard to capture it, but the tire noise is lower, more drummy, this is an underlying gear whine. Sadly don't have a set of road tire to isolate the tire noise. The gear noise starts in about 5km/h you can hear it best at each stop (as I come to a stop). Sent from my SM-G930W8 using...

    New axle to old driveshaft

For the vent just extend the axle side rubber section, doesn't really matter which side it's on as that changed due to vehicle and year but the axle base remained relatively unchanged.

    New axle to old driveshaft

Take an old bolt, cut a notch in it, run it through the threads, and then reinstall a new bolt. This pretty common with corrosion and dirt getting into the threads during disassembly.

    Constant driveline whirring

As for the gear in the 242, it was not the Planetary assembly on the input side that I was referring to, but the actual gear driven differential assembly off the rear on the output side (the means of allowing full time 4wd), that I was meaning. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

    Constant driveline whirring

The front shaft is of a correct length, as is the rear driveshaft. I have no worries about either at this time regarding both length, or angle. The MJ's longer rear shaft eliminates the need for an SYE, so I have no bothered to pursue that direction yet. The noise is present with, or without...

    Constant driveline whirring

Ok, first the background... so I put my 88 MJ together using ... 97 TJ 4.0L 95 XJ AX15 93 XJ NP242 95 ZJ LPD30 (3.73) w/ CV shafts 94 Explorer 8.8 (3.73 LSD) After initially getting it on the road, the hydraulic clutch line failed and I wound up driving on the starter to get going for 8...

Replacing the 00+ coil rail with aftermarket coils

That was what I was inferring ... The flipping is because the harness used is a crossover harness. Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk

Replacing the 00+ coil rail with aftermarket coils

It's not about flipping the connector, it's about extending it. The stock coil can be hung off the valve cover bolts. The brackets are simple, if you can use a hand drill ... You can make them. They hang off the valve cover bolts. Just swap the block/head (with Water pump, alternators, fans...

Replacing the 00+ coil rail with aftermarket coils

I think it fires all six coils (wasted spark) so there is no firing order. Don't quote me just yet, I'm not getting any younger so memory sometimes fails me. As for mystery TPS issues, I've fixed plenty of recurrent "CPS" issues in late models with a simple TPS replacement (symptoms were...

Replacing the 00+ coil rail with aftermarket coils

Exactly, I have a spare 2000 harness, I was just planning to use that coil rail plug portion to extend my existing harness accordingly. From my understanding, the adapter is simply a means of extending the wires harness, without cutting into the stock harness. Not actually being used as an...

Impact of Aftermarket Injectors on STFT & LTFT's

Mine reads a final LTFT at -11% each time I reset and let it run through a learning cycle. That is with the same 784's on a 2000 XJ. Have the intention to try another set of Ford injectors before going back to some rebuilt stockers. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Not sure what you have for a tablet, but both my old non cellular Galaxy Tab 2 and Tab 3 have GPS receivers built in. I use Backcountry Navigator as well. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk

Renix top end on 97 block.

The only difference as far as head match up goes ... Is later heads (0331s so not an issue here) had dowels for alignment. But just the holes were block side, pins were in the head. I have a 93 head on a 2000 XJ HO block (so it's a 98 casting) and a 92 head on an 88 Renix block. Very little...

    Help identifying coils

They were cheap, eventually sagged a bit but seem to be holding up fine, ride nice. They are on my 2wd Comanche so they don't exactly see a beating either. For offroad they wouldn't be my first choice (or second for that matter). They do what they do, hold the front end up. The truck is still...

Help: Coolant Change - block drain plugs

Personally until I moved my CTS up to the thermostat housing, I've never pulled this plugs. Just pull the lower to drain, hook back up to flush (through the heater hoses) and pull lower hose again to drain. Both my 88 and 00 have never had an issue. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
