1992 4-door Cherokee
153,xxx miles, all the running gear is in great shape, but it has a cracked header that would need to be fixed before it could be registered.
It has leather seats, but the fronts are pretty hammered. Back seat is nearly perfect though- Tires are fair and I have another...
Sure, you should keep Rich on your short list as he's pretty local to you as well- and he's been doing this since before my folks even got that twinkle in their eyes.....
Not that you're an old codger or anything Rich.. LOL
Yup, like Ecksjay that's just not worth it here, we can buy shotshells for considerably less. On run-of-the-mill birdshot we can save about $0.50/box, which is not worth the time. On higher end stuff we can save quite a bit more, even on tungsten shot we can load them for about $7.00/box...
I've really only had problems with their rifle primers, 6.5x55 (which I'm using Winchester and Federal brass for, not the 'real' Lapua stuff) and .30-06. I had a brick of the rifle primers that I had to shoot up in practice because I didn't trust them for hunting ammo. I'd get a good 20%...
My understanding is that CCI primers were (no longer) slightly larger in diameter than other brands, causing them to hang up slightly before being completely seated in the primer pocket. A firing pin would frequently seat the primer instead of setting it off.
I no longer use CCI if I can help...
I'm not a doctor (nor do I play one on the interwebs) but I thought only the lead vapors were a (minimal) danger when inhaled....? In indoor ranges without proper ventilation you are required to shoot only jacketed bullets- no restrictions on primers. If she's still concerned about the brass...
I'm not sure what the first pump brand was, it was an emergency purchase in So-Cal 2 years ago. The last pump was a Carter- not exactly the bastion of reliability.
We always fill our vehicles at 1/2 tank so I'm sure it's staying cool, possibly dealing with a plugged filter sock however. I'd...
The only 'cheap-o' guns that I have are Mossberg shotguns. I now have 3 (just picked another up today, don't tell Mrs. SCW). I now have a 500 (today's purchase) with an 18" and a 24" barrel, a 590 with a 20" barrel and 8 round magazine, an 835 and my only 'nice' shotty, a Baretta 391. A lot...
First check is to completely c0ck the revolver holding the hammer back all the way with your thumb- with the other hand try to rotate the cylinder back and forth to see how much rotational play there is.
While the hammer is held back (please triple check it's unloaded...blah blah) look down the...
I hate the fuel system on my 1999 Suburban. Those worthless in-tank pumps are the worst thing in America since auto unions.
Anyway, My second replacement pump in 2 years just went south on me and I don't want to replace it with another in-tank POS, so I was thinking of this-...
Any day reloading is a pretty good day. I do a lot more of it during the winter than I do during the summer, so I've just started again. I've spent the past few eveinings working on .338WM, getting brass prepped and primed takes most of the time.
I keep waiting for component prices to head...
You might not be concerned with 'resale' value, but it sounds like you are very concerned with the heirloom value. I'd hate to get a gun in 2055 from great great grandpa back in WWII and have the foot note that some jerk grandfather inbetween decided to 'fix it up' a little and lost it's...
I guess I'm late to the party here, but lets remember that Afimative Action was what gave us Obama-llama-ding-dong. You can bet your a$$ it won't be going anywhere.
With a good shotgun and slug combo you should be able to make well placed shots out to 200 yards. In 3-gun matches I have made head-shots at 75 yards and I have a run-of-the-mill shotgun without sights, just the front bead.
Yes, shotgun is the most versitile- by far. And newer slugs and...
This was my first year bowhunting for both deer and elk, I got one shot at a nice bull (spike in a spike only area) but missed and had several other stalks that came close.
So far this is my big kill for the season, nailed him today from the couch-
Crossman BB gun with 3 pumps from about 3...
No, it's the 6.5x55mm cartridge, also called the Swedish Mauser, that the Swedes (and Finns) used from the 1930's till NATO. Fantastic cartidge- far and away my favorite and the reason I have three rifles chambered for it. I really wish the US military had gone with the Swede rather than the...
I have shot two seperate 3-gun matches with a local guy here that has one. Be aware that you have to shoot in the Open class to use one, but that's usually worth it.
They have a grin-factor of about 9.5 out of 10, I stand there grinning like an idiot just watching him shoot! He can motor...
