Yes, the s-10 bastard pack is very common. You can also use dodge dakota springs, or basically any leaf spring that is 2.5" wide and comes from a sprung-under axle. You cut the eyes off the main leaf from the s-10 and mix with your XJ pack. Search for homebrew leaf springs or homemade lift kit.
Hey guys, 1997 4.0 check engine light came on and I got a code 21, poor fuel economy, and hard starting when cold. Autozone scanner confirmed O2 sensor. Should I go with Bosch or one of the cheaper brands on rockauto or oxygengeek.com? Has anybody had any experience with those other brands...
I've got a 97 aw4, 231, 8.25 XJ that I need to tow 1000 miles on a dolly. I've searched and got conflicting results on the best way to do this. The manual says to put transmission in park and tc in neutral, other people say to pull the rear driveshaft. The manual then also says that internal...
Check for any visible leaks from the pinion or axle seals. Also check for play at the pinion and axle the axle shafts. My bet would be on the axle shaft bearings. You're sure it's not the tires, right?
Yeah, that would work and may possibly be the best solution. You could make the holes big enough to put some tubing through the rail in order to sleeve the bolt and use some 3/16 flat stock underneath the nut on the backside of the rail.
TC drop has nothing to do with DW, that's to cure driveline vibrations. DW is usually caused by not enough caster or incorrect toe-in, and can be aggravated by unbalanced tires. Did you get an alignment after the lift?
I believe the diff causes the driver's side spring mount to be higher than the passenger side, therefore you need a shorter spring on the driver side. I think gojeep mentions this on his site.
I have the 231 and 8.25 axle. The vibes aren't that bad unless you really romp on it. I'm wondering if they may go away as the new pack starts to break in. I'd hate to wear out the u-joints in the driveshaft, but I wonder how much life they have left anyway, as they appear to be the originals...
Where's the best place to get some steel shims? Rustys are $30.00/pair compared to under $10 for his aluminum ones. Does that seem high to anybody else?
