98/4.0/AX15/NP231
Recently removed a bummed AX15 (3rd and 4th went; grinding in neutral) and went the route of a used AX15. Said it was tested and approved (shifts, seals, bearings, etc.) so I'm assuming it isn't the unit itself. Removal was clean, install was clean, however upon driving out of...
I am bumping this. My driver side window was punched, which ended up damaging one of the little plastic clips on the regulator. I want to rebuild, I have had zero luck locating one, at all.
Ideas? Experience? Basically a bump for the OP
Picked up an oil pressure switch. Tested for spark and fuel, both verify yet I still can't get the engine to fire. Cam and crank sensors are both connected and worked fine before so I don't think they're failing. My local 4x4 page suggested 180 out, but would that prevent the motor from starting...
Interesting, I figured it would still run without that sensor, but if someone could chime in as to why a 2000 won't, and when that happened, I'd appreciate it. The sensor plug is 50 bucks at the store and I'll grab it tomorrow regardless (worked until 7 tonight).
I'm not worried about the...
98 4.0 ax15 with a 97 4.0 motor
Just finished my swap...I know, that took way too long (re hydrolock). Anyways, everything is where is is supposed to be with the exception of the oil pressure plug, which doesn't fit my wiring harness...there's one at the store that I'll grab tomorrow.
Tried...
Great, thanks guys, the pan kind of dropped a bit once the last bolt came off and that metal bracket hit the ground before I could figure out where it came from.
Thank you for the quick reply. My Haynes book doesn't note the girdle- torque specs on the bearing cap are 80ft/lbs, do you happen to know what the girdle bolts should be tightened to?
The rms and oil pan gasket are pretty straightforward jobs I think, especially considering the engine is out. I have two questions though...first, when I dropped the pan, that little metal bracket thing (pictured above) fell out...what the heck is it and where does it belong?
Second, I know I...
My engine bay is completely torn apart, I'm in the process of removing the radiator/header panel to yank the entire drivetrain out in the next couple of days.
I got the top line off, however the bottom one is proving to be harder to get leverage for. I'll try some light taps once I get back home from work this afternoon.
@md- do you mean depressurized? Everything I've read has told me to evacuate the system prior to pulling these lines apart...not to...
Picked this guy up at my local Napa, but can't for the life of me get the first line loose. Not sure if the tool is having a hard time getting under that spring or what, but it's not budging. Any tips or tricks?
This is probably trivial but I've tried looking around and my book doesn't detail exactly how to disconnect the hard lines running from the evaporator inlet to and from the condenser in front of the radiator. The lines look like they fit into each other and have a metal clip to ensure they stay...
