I have a 1997, 2 door, 4.0, 4x4, 5 speed, 8.25 rear axle, factory tint, cruise control, full size spare and fog lights, i dunno if its rare but i like it. Although i did set out to buy a four door cherokee but the price was right on the two door.
Thanks for everyones input, least now I know that I'm not the only one with this problem. I went back and mixed and matched old parts with new ones and now hopefully I think I have a combination that works. The cable guides I had were not flat so I kinda had to bend them until they layed...
I'll double check everything, thanks for the link. I really don't know why this is happening, its the first time I've ever had this happen. Maybe I have the wrong partial pulleys or something, who knows.
thanks again,
Will
I did'nt explain well, the spring does hold it in, but the partial pulley does'nt stay completely seated in the hole of the brake shoe. It seems like once there is a little tension on the cable, the cable pulls the partial pulley away from the shoe causing the partial pulley to slide slightly...
I've been having problems with my rear brakes and its driving me crazy. I can't ever get both the rear self adjusting mechanisms to work in unison, either the left or the right brake does'nt adjust and it messes up the balance of the car under braking (pulling left or right ect). The partial...
Water pump or radiator dripping down the hose making it seem like the hose is culprit? I dunno, check both, look under the car while its running and always look for the highest point the coolant could be coming from, dont forget to check the under side of the thermostat housing.
I have a 1997 cherokee sport with 170,000 miles that gets 22-23 on the highway (60-75 mph avg.) and 17-19 around town, but I drive like grandpa and its a two door with a manual transmission. I also have synthetic in everything except the engine if anyone feels that makes a difference (I did'nt...
Took my fender flares off the other day to paint them black and I broke every single one of the studs off the mounting brackets. Where can I get these brackets, I've only been able to find the replacement brackets for earlier XJ's. I know I can drill the broken studs out of the brackes and...
I had that code pop up and I switched out a bunch of parts from my buddys jeep (solenoid switch ect ect) and never could get the code to go away, then I switched his engine computer and drove around with it for a week and the code never came up. I Ended up finding a used computer from the junk...
I have a 1997 cherokee and it did the same thing occasionally in all situations, but would always do it the worst when the temperature change was large, cold at night warm during the day. It was a rather loud crack, sometimes it'd kinda make me jump, haha. Anyway since I took my dash out to...
When I bought my jeep (97 XJ) the AC did'nt work due to a leaking evaporator. Well a couple of weeks ago I replaced the evaporator, fixed the AC and noticed the very short drain tube aimed directly into the frame rail. After a few days I made a longer drain tube out of larger diameter tubing...
I have a 97 two door and the front pad on the armrest is peeling away from the plastic backing. I thought that some 3M spray ahesive would do the trick, but after a few days in the hot sun separated again. Any tricks to this fix?
thanks,
Will
