im looking at a jeep for sale which has had an interior fire..the owner says that the dome light had a short circuit which caused the fire. my question is what would have caused this, and if i disable the interior lights would there be any more chance of another electrical fire? thanks.

today I installed a rebuilt 242 to replace a broken one and Im having some problems. first of all, should you be able to move the shift lever by hand? I couldn't but put it in anyway. Now I can't shift the transfer case, I don't know it its the linkage or what. When test driving it afterwards...
