Just so everyone knows I have a solution to the fact that the box won't fit. I have the rear half of an MJ cab to make up for the 8" or so of missing bed. Eagle is correct it won't fit without fab work.

Welcome to the tired 4.0 Renix fuel injection high miles motor starting. About the only thing you can do cheaply is make sure the sensor that tells the computer when the motor in at cylinder #1 TDC. I cant remember whether it is crank or cam sensor but cleaning them and or replacing them...
'89 4.0 radiator has never had coolant through it.
Bought it for a motor swap but never used it. I got it from Auto Zone new for about $120. I will take $80 for it plus shipping. Is usable with auto tranny.
Edit: Added that it is for the 4.0.
With about 100K miles. Motor is tired but still has great power. 4.11 gears in the back. The bed is removed (it was really bad off) as a tree didn't like it a took a cheap shot.
Lots of spare parts come with it.

Who has used Oxy/accetalene to weld gears in still in the axle?
I have used oxy with the carrier out and the bearings still pressed on but not while the carrier was still in the housing. I think it would be okay as long as you took you time and let everything cool. Opinions on this.
A spooled rear is a little more "happy" than a rear that can differenciate.
When the tires are locked together, the tire that has the most weight on it has 100% of the torque, if it starts to spin, say the outside tire during a turn, the inside will have to follow because they are locked...
