VW TDI into a 99 XJ

IF IT WERE ME.. I'd buy the HPA kit if it were an option. That's just me. Why are you worried about the spacer thickness? I think mine is an inch, I forget and it's raining out. ;) I don't have a template as *I* didn't make it. The TDI side is available on the interwebs. The AX15 bellhouse...

It was easy. I just drilled new holes and bolted it on ;)

Sardo: I just noticed your Ft. Devens comment. Feel free to drop me a line. I am about 20 minutes west on Rt. 2 from there. Feel free to drop me a line when the time gets closer.

Sardo: I feel your pain. I totaled my 2002 Jetta a month ago. Incidentally, I now own a 2010 Golf TDI. I picked up the truck today. It's running. It's not as far along as I had hoped it would be, but the motor is in and running and that's what I truly wanted from the mechanic. So I am happy...

A little more progress. Was delivered a tune by the tuning guy for the motor. It SHOULD be able to move under it's own power again by this weekend. That's the theory at least. Sardo: I am in Templeton, North Central Mass.

So progress continues. The motor is running off the Jeep ignition. It is in place and 80% mounted. Intake and exhaust are still hacked for minimalist operation.

Kastein: The 4bt is literally a 6bt with 2 cylinders cut off. So realistically there is no difference. But, no, it was never put in a Chrysler "consumer" vehicle.

I tossed around that idea for a very long time. I ended up not going there for a couple reasons. 1) Weight. It isn't wildly heavier than the 4.0, but it is heavier. 2) Height. It is a TALL motor 3) Lack of available HP. 4) Even stock that sumbitch is loooouuuuud! This is going to serve on...

Good. Now add some power to it! 90 hp is an embarrassment. My Jetta is (was until Thursday) running around 160hp and around 250 ft/lbs. It wasn't a rocket but it went with very healthy confidence! Still netted me 45+/- mpg and proved 100% reliable. It met the ass end of an Audi the other...

Sorry Dfar and XJ. I didn't see that the thread was posted in and, until now, there has been no progress. I'll post up a couple engine bay pictures as soon as I can. Apologies on the delay!

Admittedly for a motor, it's a small turbo, but for a 2 liter engine it's huge. If I am not mistaken, a different version of this feeds the 3.0 V6 TDI in Europe. It's roughly 30% physically larger than the stock.

Some new updates. There was an additional pause as I was convinced to create a new adapter plate for the motor that took out the tilt that the original has in it. I did a quick scramble to get the drawing created so I could have it made, but my CAD capable friends were a little more "Hell yeah...

CAD drawing of the 4.0/AX-15 bolt pattern?

Yes. Just the bolt pattern. thx
