I used to have a Ford Mini-van that acted like that. The problems would stop when I replaced the throttle position sensor. I don't know if that is your problem though. I'm not a mechanic.

I found the same connection on my 2000xj intake manifold. Sticker said that it is not used like yours. Concerned about drawing unfiltered air into the engine i took a short piece of hose and plugged it with a bolt and capped the connection with that. The result I got was 300 rpm slower...

I bought a code reader/ programmer, but it cost over $300. If you are just interested in what the code is I would see if your local auto parts store will check it for you. Even with a reader/programer in hand; I still had to go on the internet, do a search, and figure out what the code meant...

I had that problem with my 2000 xj. I took the nuts off of the bolts under the bottem of the door frame ( behind the bumper) got inside and forced it open. Don't really reccomend this method. it damaged plastic parts around the door frame latch that I had to glue together. Ounce I got it...
