I did everything I could to buy local, but Summit ended up the best place to go. No one stocks them and Summit could have them here in a week. We will see how they are.
I am going to order the Mastercraft Baja RS seats (SKU : 504028). From what I can tell, the install is easiest if I order the adapter brackets also (SKU:624501). If I order them directly from Mastercraft Safety they should get here pretty quickly, but I have to pay $104 in shipping. If order...
My XJ now handles better, but it is really noisy now. The new bushings really make a lot of noise.
Also, I can't recommend the Rusty's Shackles enough. I do recommend buying some new hardware though before you start the project.
Rusty's XJ Shackles
One side came out easy. On the other side the sleeve inside the upper shackle bolt had split and siezed to the bolt. I was able to unthread it from the blind nut and then cut it with a sawzall.
Turned out to be a bad pump. I took the reservoir off and hooked to my air compressor electric motor and ran hydraulic fluid through it. The low pressure side or the return side had over 250 psi while the high pressure side only had 36 psi. Maybe they rebuilt it backwards, I don't know. I...
UNCLE!!
What did I do?? I originally broke the little plastic nipple on the back of my power steering pump reservoir when I changed the radiator. Instead of replacing the pump I just replaced the reservoir.
Of course it leaked and kept leaking no matter how I tried to seal it up. I took...
My XJ has handling issues that I am trying to remedy. It has a BDS long-arm kit on the front end and several of the bushings in the arms look worn. What bushings do I use? Any suggestions? Rubber? Poly? Urethane? or even orbit-eyes?
I am replacing all the bushings in the upper and lower arms...
I don't think that is the case, it pretty much takes the same amount of steering effort locked or unlocked. I don't know how to explain it, but it kind of veers hard for a second and then goes back to normal. I did drove it on the skid pad at Bondurant and if I let off the gas during a turn it...
So I still have a sway bar up front. Everything seems tight, in fact most everything is almost new, including the Dynatrac axle and Tereflex steering up front. The only part of the suspension that I could find that is old is the rear shackles are original and it looks like the upper shackle...
See how crazy this is? Some people swear it is my locker while others swear it is not! I have to figure this out before I spend $1,000 on another ARB locker that may or may not fix the problem!
:banghead:
If you are local, you are more than well come to come for a ride with me, or possibly drive mine. I will be replacing the rear shackles with the Rusty's Boomerrag Shackles...
