Rough Country drop bracket install w/ pics

I have mine mounted on top of 3/16" thick homemade frame stiffeners with no problems at all. Don't think they are really an issue. Just makes for a stronger install.

One of my more favorite mods

Love mine as well. Only bad thing about them is you can easily forget you're in 2wd when you want 4. Only takes a second to fix it and you're on your way though. I run in 2LO a good bit even on purpose.

    Rough Country

Cry? No cry here. You misunderstand my point. I don't care about the cost of either and never intended to buy whatever they came up with since I'm building my own 3-link. I was just hoping for their sake that they would do something original and innovative. Revamping other peoples ideas will...

    Rough Country

I'd say the likelyhood of the entire upgrade as pictured (crossmember, TC guard and arms) selling for $500 is very low. I'm also disappointed that it ended up a radius arm setup with 1 piece crossmember. While probably more expensive the TREKS version of this is a cleaner install and has been...

    C.A. Drop Bracket Question

The RC Drop brackets themselves are well built but I wouldn't trust them just screwed into the uniframe and bolted into the stock LCA mounts as the stock installation instructions show. I have 3/16" frame stiffeners running from the stock LCA mounts all the way back to the front leaf spring...

    Aussie front, open rear?

Many 8.25s in XJs are actually trac-locs. I ran an Aussie in front and rear trac-loc for a good while and was always impressed what it would do.

Rubicon Express LCA rubber bushing install?

I just replaced mine for the third time. I use my u-joint clamp and a big screwdriver to get the old ones out and the clamp to install the new ones. They don't hold up very well and I'm seriously cosiddering cutting them off and replacing them with another Johnny Joint. For what it costs to...

    Rough Country long arm kit

A commercially available Mid Arm 3 and/or 4 link would be sweet. Without the need for a new crossmember pricing could be reasonable and ground clearance loss could be less than drop brackets which I presently run with no real complaints. Raising the LCA mounts on the axle like Goatman shows...

    Rough Country long arm kit

How about a Mid Arm System like Goatman speeks of here: http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=58482 . Seems like some good thinking to me and is not a rerun of the typical Long Arm systems other sell. I'll bet he could be helpful if you were interested. While I'm at it I live right down...

    Heavy Duty Homebrew Crossmember/T-case skid

Looks good n stout. Can't tell from the pics. but do you still have easy access to your TC drain and fill. Can you tell me what the bolt pattern for the center tranny/TC mount is. I'm drawing one up for mine and the current armour I have covers that. Would save me from taking it all apart to...

    Flexing to figure shock length.

I thought that was what I was seeing. Good idea, cheap and functional.

    Flexing to figure shock length.

It looks like you've done something spiffy with you bumpstops too. It looks like a round piece on top of some allthread threaded thru the spring perch with a jam nut to lock it in place. Am I seeing it right? I can't quite make out the upper stop but it doesn't look stock either.

Ballistic makes some good stuff. This http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Panhard-Tracbar-Frame-mount_p_1441.html is their version of what were talking about and almost exactly what I just drew up. Mine will be cut tomorrow at work and be on the XJ next weekend. Thank's for the input.

    Flexing to figure shock length.

Nothing. It does look kinda twisted or crooked in the pic but that's an optical delusion caused by all the diagional, out of square lines around it and the angle it's shot from. I built the mount and it locates that end of the TB in it's original location. Lately I've been thinking of cutting...

    Flexing to figure shock length.

Shucks Mister, you're gonna make my head swell. Seriously though, it may have been the long way around but the results are good. Now I'm looking at getting rid of the funky RE Super Flex hourglass bushings in my LCAs. I've trashed 2 sets of them in the last 18 months and need new...
