Will the tank skid work on a 1997? If so, I'll take it. Can PP the cash anytime, hopefully can find a parts train to San Diego.

+1 on calling ARBUSA - their tech support is one of the best I've called. You tell them what you have/want and they will find a part number in their catalog that works based on existing axle, lift needed, weight you will carry etc. You can then order from any distributor you want.

    Lift Issues

I meant loosen the bolts at the front and rear of the springs, where the springs attach to the body. Leave the U-bolts tight. loosen them, bounce it around some, then re-tighten. There is a torque spec on them, but I don't remember it off hand. Vibe is probably driveshaft pinion angle, lots...

    Lift Issues

You didn't tighten the rear spring bolts until after you lowered it and the full weight was on the ground did you? Drive it for a few days, then loosen the bolts and see if it drops. I know mine did.

    Significant power upgrades: CA Edition

Just because I don't want to put false info out there, And CAL seems like had some recent experience I thought I'd do some checking. I called the BAR Dept. and was told: "CAL is right" You can put a gasoline engine into a diesel vehicle, but not the other way around. The laws have not...

They put them into VW busses (1 ton vehicle). Referee's pass them.

    Significant power upgrades: CA Edition

Correct, He would need to use a 1997 or older engine. to avoid any further smog checks. According to the BAR website, All you have to do is retain the donor Engine's emissions equipment. Here is a thread documenting it in the last year (go to the last page)...

    Significant power upgrades: CA Edition

Gas to Diesel swaps are allowed. You must retain all the original engine's smog devices. You would then take it to the Smog Referee, and they would validate it. California does not smog Diesel engines, so once the Referee has checked off on it, you are done with smog.

    Significant power upgrades: CA Edition

Put a 1.9 VW TDI in it. lose weight, world-wide parts availability, Bump it up to 160HP and 265ft-lbs, bypass smog altogether, and close to, if not more than twice the MPG you get now. These guys sell kits if you have $$$: http://www.cotybuilt.com/# Or, start a build thread here, get some...
