Replaced the pump still have a dead spot.

Thanks for the input. This reman unit is still under warranty so I'll swap it out. If I wasn't in the middle of another build I'd be more apt to replacing all with new. Thanks again.

Replaced the pump still have a dead spot.

This past weekend we were out at Tierra Del Sol. As soon as we head out on the trail the power steering became erratic with various dead spots throughout left and right turns. This was not consistent and slowly became a situation where it was seemingly limited to right turns only. Once back...

    96' Track bar mount loose

My son's 96 was making a lot of popping (sounded like someone hitting the frame with a small hammer). I traced it the trackbar mount at the frame. The track bar itself was not loose but the two lower bolts where loose enough to cause the mount to move left & right during any steering input...

P0432 and Cali vs 48 state

So i recently I did a motor swap after the dreaded 0331 fiasco and now after about a week of driving on the new motor i am getting a P0432 code. Have read the forums and understand that 99 out of 100 it's the CATs and suspect that the damaged was caused by the old motor as I got a CEL two days...

    RC rear leafs...popping!

I recently installed a RC 6" long arm kit. Everything thus far has been fine except right out of the gate the rear leaf springs started making a popping sound. After checking the obvious, that everything was tightened to spec I notice that the leaf packs DO NOT have any sort of isolators...

    98 versus 01

Yes, no oil pressure at idle. Confirmed with a mechanical gauge.

    98 versus 01

So, i have a 2001 with the now CRACKED 0331 head. As I cannot afford a stroker or even a replacement such as an ATK or Jasper motor, my thought is this. I have a local shop that parts out XJ's. Ive done business with him before and consider him very reputable. He has a '98 that has great oil...

    New motor on the horizon

Lately I have been dealing with a low to zero oil pressure at idle and a slow loss of coolant in my 01. She has a 174K on her and the funny thing is that she runs great, idles as she should has power, no knocks, no ticks. I thought it was a sender so i put a mechanical gauge on it and it was...

    Output shaft play?

My '01 had the same problem about two years ago. Mine had so much play in it that it actually locked up and had to be towed home and never made it wheeling. I agree with Blondejoncherokee, I picked a low mileage for 200 bucks and slapped it in, been running fine ever since. Kept the old one...

    Richmond Lock-right D30

Trying get a better understanding of how a lock-right locker will behave on the street. A good friend of mine with a 2000 XJ just took his Lock-Right locker out and replaced it with an Eaton E-locker. Now obviously if money was not an issue i would do the same thing but he is willing to sell...

    Gearing

I have a 2001 with a 4" lift, I am currently running 265/75R16 tires. With the manual trans i get the ever popular 3:07 gear package, it's not bad around town but is a little difficult on the trail. What would be a good starting point for new gear 3:73, 4:11? It's an in town daily driver so...

    Hack & Tap

So, I saw an ad the other day for a Hack & Tap SYE. I have seen a LOT of guys doing these on You Tube (some very creative). The ad basically is saying (if I read it right) that with there kit you can run the same drive shaft in the rear as in the front. I'll be honest it sounds pretty...
