I've got a 1993 XJ, lifted 4.5" with IRO springs and shackles. My drivetrain is a SYE with a CV driveshaft. I've been having a lot of drivetrain vibrations and have managed to get them down to a pretty reasonable level using axle shims (currently at an 8* shim).
However the vibes are...
Thanks. I emailed IRO and it looks like I am out of luck with regards to warranty (i bought them used).
I went through older pictures and found "un-bent" pictures so i guess this has happened while i've had them. I'm not worried about it but i guess we can safely conclude that IRO's leafs...
In the first picture, compare the close leaf (driver side) to the far leaf and you will see what i mean (sorry for the large pictures). It appears that main leaf is bent where the leaf below it contacts it, and that the second leaf is also slightly bent downwards.
I've probably been driving...
A few years ago i picked up some IRO leaf springs that were "lightly" used. A few days ago a buddy pointed out that they are bent on one side (see pics). I don't wheel my rig very hard these days, so it's possible they were this way when i bought them...
My question is, what causes this...
I forgot to mention i have 4.56's and my speedo is corrected.
Other than that, well that's both good news and bad news! I really hate getting 14mpg but i guess i can't have everything.
I just ran a quick errand and tried it in 3rd and it does seem better. It stayed around 14-1500 but it lug...
I have a '93 Cherokee, 4.0L AW4 with 4.5" lift with 33's. I live in a smaller town where the speed limit is mostly 35. The problem i'm having is that the stupid AW4 seems intent on getting to 4th gear as quickly as possible.
I've noticed that the engine seems happiest and most efficient in...
That argument only works when you're asking "should i pay 2x as much for brand B over brand A?". In this case the two you're comparing are the same price, and one is clearly a better design than the other.
You will never find yourself out on a trail thinking "I wish i had bought the weaker...
I remember seeing an article in one of the offroad magazines a while back where they did a comparo of a heavy versus a light set of wheels and tires. It made a big difference. They chose the Duratrac for the "light" tire, and since i love mine in 33" i figured i'd mention it :)
I think your pattern looks good, and i don't think you'll be able to get it any better.
The only two things we can't tell from your pictures that are important are:
1. Is your pinion nut torqued all the way down when taking these measurements? And make sure to use a NEW nut when you go to...
I'm actually running air soft pellets for balancing. I'd agree with you, but it's weird to me that i can run it up to 80 with no shimmy on the downhill....
Haha, yeah, true!
What i mean is that it feels like the start of death wobble but i think my track bar is soaking up most of the damage--it never gets to the point where the axle is rocking back and forth wildly.
I have a relatively new long-arm setup but i'll go through and check all the...
Yeah sorry, i tried to edit but i don't see the edit button anywhere (i'm having a monday).
I think it is basically a death wobble but it's very controlled (my front suspension is mostly new). There is a shaking from the front axle and i can feel it through the steering wheel. It feels as...
I'm finally getting rid of most of the vibes i've had on the freeway, and i'm down to the last one!
Specs are: 1993 Cherokee, 5" long-arm lift, 33" tires. IRO trackbar and newer HD steering (ZJ stuff).
The problem i'm having is that when going faster (65+ mph) and going up an incline, the...
