    ZJ v8 in MJ

Doh! Sorry about the mistake, didn't realize you had adapted a computer. If I buggy out my MJ, I was considering an AMC motor on propane using Brett's controller with an AW-4. Maybe that's what I was thinking of....

    Propane Conversion

As soon as the propane leaves its pressurized bottle, it's gaseous. Canada is also a little more set up for propane as many vehicles in Canada used to be sold as dual fuel (not sure about now, though). VinceYJ, Contact Cary at GotPropane. He has a kit that works for the 4.0L but is also...

    ZJ v8 in MJ

The AW4 will bolt up. There was a guy on :NAXJA: here that dropped a 401 into his MJ, backed it with an AW4 and Brett's controller and used it for drag racing. You may be able to search him out and pick his brain about it. Just an FYI, you'll only find the 5.9 in '98 ZJs. No V-8's came with...

    ZJ v8 in MJ

The AW-4 won't mount to the 5.2/5.9L series of engines but the bellhousing will bolt up to the AMC V-8s (304/360/390/401). I don't know if the flexplate is a direct bolt-on or not. You would also need a means of controlling the transmission computer as well. Or use BrettM's shifter controller...

Drilling plug welds on front D44?

Torch, plasma cutter, or a plug weld cutter on a mill. These are the only ways that I have heard that work. Good luck.

    JEGS Catback

I've got a Jeg's kit for my DD ZJ. The fit and finish was really good for such a cheap kit. I think they use a fairly cheap muffler as mine has a pretty "buzzy" resonance around 2000 rpm's (right about 70 mph on the freeway). Oh yeah, the ZJ kit is 3", despite what the tech services may say...

    XJ V8 Swap

You seem to be getting a little worked up when I was only using the LS-1 as my own personal example. The base 350 and 302 are not really modern anymore as neither have been offered in a factory stock vehicle since (I believe) before the 4.0L was put out of production. I would absolutely...

    XJ V8 Swap

Like I said, to each their own. Start coupling that 100 lbs from one component with some other measures to save weight (i.e. losing doors, removing glass, cutting your rig up, taking only the essential spares and tools, etc.) the weight savings can really add up quickly. With a personal diet...

    XJ V8 Swap

I would disagree with your points on weight. I consider the weight of the I6 motor to be a great disadvantage, especially if you're trying to build as light of a trail rig as possible. Look at some of the steps the WCGIC take when buggying their XJs for the rocks out west. For instance, a...

ZJ disc conversion on a 44

Only '95-'98 ZJs had disc brakes on the rear axle, as far as I know.

    TNT Custom HP44 Conversion Kit

Kit looks great. Do you have any idea if it would work for an HPD44 cut down to Waggy width? Or is it strictly for the full-width conversion?

    Vacuum connector on NP231?

I've got an NP231 from an XJ that had the vacuum disconnect on the D30 front. I'm swapping the axle and 231 into my MJ but will be deleting the vacuum disco. There's a connector on the driver's side of the TC that looks like it's vacuum lines. What was this for? Is there going to be a...

Looking for Torx Bolts for door latch

You could also just replace the Torx bolts with a hex head bolt. It's a standard metric thread on the bolt.

Pic request - Engine bay component mounting

That's what I needed. I should be able to make something work from here. Sometimes, it really pays to work for a fastener company....
