    I'll just hop in here instead of a new thread .... I have a 85 XJ 4cyl, 5sp, NP207 AM3 and access to a 90XJ 6cyl auto and NP242 J. Does anyone know if I can swap the 242 in place of my 207? I "searched" and this thread is the closest I found so I hope I'm not !!!1

    NSS or Charging Problem... you decide

    Turn the headlights on, have someone try cranking it, if the light dim out quite a bit then the NSS is working and power is getting to the starter. If the lights don't dim quite a bit then there is not power getting to the starter and I would suspect the NSS or ig switch. The previous poster...

    Spiders and side gears only come into play in turns so unless the side gears are flopping loose I would think you got wheel bearing or carrier bearing issues. Maybe pinion bearings. But if it's pinion or carrier bearings going bad then you'll probably also have gear whine. Have you tried...
