Typically TCCs are unlocked on decel to keep it feeling smooth and not like a man trans.
Is this lock up light an added on light?
Is so then it might be an idea to add a second light on the ground side of the TCC(solenoid 3) with the other end of the light going to ignition or acc pos.

Untwist that lock ring, pull the sender assy out and replace the big o-ring. After cleaning any dirt or gunk out of the groove and off the sealing surface of the sender.

Spiders and side gears only come into play in turns so unless the side gears are flopping loose I would think you got wheel bearing or carrier bearing issues. Maybe pinion bearings. But if it's pinion or carrier bearings going bad then you'll probably also have gear whine. Have you tried...
