    disable d30?

I now recall that 8.25's are inherently noisy, I guess I would recheck the specs and mesh pattern, if that was ok, I'd let it ride. Sorry if this question led to confusion, the only thing I have not done to my xj is an alignment, I've had an Auburn, TruTrac, and 4.10's in my garage for more...

    disable d30?

I think the logic was that without the front r/p meshing, under load or not, it would be easier to hear/feel gear noise in the rear after adjusting to specs. Are you saying that regardless of the accuracy of the b/l, pinion depth, mesh pattern, etc., one should discount any noise/whine after...

    disable d30?

There are no plans to remove the axle shafts, ditto the front wheels. Distilled, he said there was a way to prevent the front axles/r&p from rotating by removing something in the front hub area, regardless of the status of the fds. Simply asked, is this mechanically possible on a d30 from a...

    disable d30?

I know that you must pull the opposite ds until both difs are completed, but I think his logic is that it's easier to "hear/feel" the new gears when the front r/p isn't rotating; according to him, removing just the fds is not enough. Thanks for the fast reply, Mike

    disable d30?

A friend of a friend is going to help me regear the 8.25, he said in addition to removing the fds I also should disconnect the front hubs by removing some "outside located" part from each hub, so the front dif doesn't turn. Can this be done at the hub w/o a opening up the dif housing? Thanks...

    HD SYE for 242?

Did the Currie when Tom was at sixstates about five years ago, 78k later no problems whatsoever, but please keep in mind that I'm relatively easy on the drive train. Mike

    31x11.5's

Beez, I have a practically unused 31" spare, I might as stay with that size, especially given the fact (I think) that with an ls you need exact same tire height or some sorts of problems will arise.

    31x11.5's

Yeah Beez, did the math, 32's and 4.10's are almoast dead on with stock. Karma wil never be washed, nor waxed, and www.stayvertical.com will soon be updated w/more derails. Mike

    31x11.5's

Beez, 6" in the rear, about 5.5" in front. The 4.10's will be going in hopefully by the end of the summer, will this be close to stock gearing with 32's? Don't want to start cutting fenders, but I don't do much off-roading that involves disconnecting the sway bars anyway, so maybe fender...

How much worse would mt's be as a dd tire?

    31x11.5's

15" rims, reason I got the idea for this size is because tire replacement time is soon and I'd like to keep the 31" tire height because of speedo gear change snafu (I know, petty reason). The vast majority of my wheeling is on the beach (Long Island, NY offers nothing as far as dirt and rocks...
