Since your condition is very similar to philip_g, I'm posting the same response I gave him....
Check your sway bar bushings. I have 127,000+ miles on my 99 XJ and have had to replace the things at least twice. When they get worn you fell a knocking/rattling sound when you go over any bumps or...
The bushings are split. Do one side at a time. With the Jeep sitting level, remove the 2 screws on the bracket holding the bushing in place. The bar should sag enough to remove the old bushing which is split. The new bushing should be split as well. Put some lithium grease on the inner...
philip_g,
Replace those bushings and see if you notice a difference. If they are bad, I'm certain that they are causing some rattling/knocking.
They only take a couple minutes to replace.

This may be obvious to many but maybe not to others. Just wanted to mention that if you adjust the serpentine belt to be too tight, you can easily shorten the life of all the bearings of all the items that get spun by the serpentine belt. Unfortunately these XJs don't have a spring loaded belt...
Check your sway bar bushings. I have 127,000+ miles on my 99 XJ and have had to replace the things at least twice. When they get worn you fell a knocking/rattling sound when you go over any bumps or dips.
If you get underneath and pull down on the swaybar and see a space between the bar and...
I've got 127,900+ on mine and have only used the green stuff. No leaks yet. I did replace the radiator with an all metal unit though. I've flushed it once 3 years after I got the XJ. I've been thinking of doing it this month again. It's actually overdue. They usually recommend to do it...
I'm not sure about the WJ. On the 99XJ it's in the relay center that's on the driver's side in the engine compartment.
The XJ also has relays next to the fuses that are located in the kick panel on the passenger side. I don't know if this is the same location for the WJ, but it's worth...
I just had this same exact thing happen on my 99XJ about a month ago. The sensor is expensive. I haven't got around to replacing it. The pressure now reads a little lower than 80 but it is still high. The cheapest I saw was Rockauto.com.
I tried removing the connector and cleaning the...
A day later that I started it the pressure would show 50PSI.
Just turning the key to the run position, engine off, gives a 40-50PSI reading.
I disconnected the connector and the reading stays at 0PSI even at the run position.
Disconnected the connector and cleaned the connection and tried...
Let us know what you think of those Cooper Discoverer ATRs.
I'll be needing to replace my tires in a couple months.
The tread pattern on those Discoverer ATRs are very similar to the tread pattern on the tires I have now, Bridgestone Dueler A/T.
I really like the Dueler A/Ts. I have Pirelli...
My pressure has been stuck at 80PSI for the last 2 days.
(99XJ, 4.0L)
My guess is I need to clean the connection or the pressure sensor is bad.
It does this with ignition on, engine off as well.
Any guesses before I take a look?
I hope the connector just needs a cleaning. I washed that area of...
I've had my 99 Cherokee for 5 years now. It's got 121,000miles on it.
I haven't had any of the problems that you describe and have found it very reliable.
The only items that have been changed due to failure/wear was a radiator due to a leak and replaced it with a $90 all metal 3 row, a CPS...
I just realized something.
Backspace is measured from the farthest edge of the wheel flange.
The backspace measurement takes into consideration the edge of the flange on the wheel, but the wheel width does not since it only measures the distance between the inner mounting surface of the...
