I have a HP.D30 housing that's been sitting open to the weather for some time. Some surface rust has appeared on the inside/bearing side of the carrier bearing caps. Are they trashed or can you clean them up with some sand paper and still use the housing?

Coil rail fixed it. Found two bad injectors in the process... Got a couple projects for the next warm weekend between those and the head. Thanks for all the input.

Well crap I think I've found the problem. I've suspected a cracked head for a while now. And after replacing the plugs and finding the number three plug seriously corroded and fouled I thought "wow, its been a week since I checked the oil." And sure enough I'm finally seeing the tell tale...
