No worries...
Don, I slotted it and heated it as much as I felt comfortable and still no dice. I think I'm going to do the socket weld. I was going to try to drill through it sideways and get a bar in there to give me some turning leverage but with the slot cut there's enough integrity already...
Did some searching and tried some ideas but none have worked. The cross pin retaining bolt in my 8.25 is stuck and will not come out. I started with a 5/16 box wrench and it started to round so I stopped. I tried tapping on various 6pt sockets that would fit the head and it didn't budge and...
So I've done my research and watched the bickering between the 8.25/D44/8.8 people here and on other forums for years. I'm tasked with making this decision once again for another Jeep. The 8.25 in my new project is beat to death with a rotted housing so I'd like to ditch it for something else...
So my buckets and shock mounts are beyond shot and I've been looking at my options for some. Anyone out there that can give me their like/dislikes on these? The price is pretty close as I'do opt for the Trac-bar mount on the TnTs.
TnT's...
Dantheman! Others might say otherwise but I see you want to flush the tranny and my recommendation is just to drain it before you put in the cooler with a new gasket, don't flush it. Old trannys get used to the slop and can run shifty if fully flushed, it's less of a risk to just drain it out...
TRCM.. I used a similar tactic but not as nice. I ended up cutting the shackle in half and in the process found the weld nut broke off and took a piece of my frame rail with it a 1/4" or so. I ended up cutting the floor to extract it and putting in a slightly longer grade 8 bolt with a drilled...
Hey guys. I broke my driver's side upper shackle bolt today. I have JKS shackles and new leaves to put in. Is it a feasible idea to cut the bolt out leaving enough to tack weld a nut on to try and turn the rest out? Or should I just cut through the floor? The head plus about an inch broke off...
Thank you kindly good sir. Took a bit of coaxing and feathering the throttle once the battery was charged but it's running well. I've never ran in to that issue on any of my Jeeps. Good thing to know.
It's filled with water right now to flush out any of the cleaner. Once I drain that i'll fill with antifreeze. Going the battery disconnect now. I'll let you know shortly. Thanks
