    Roof rack mounts suck!

I had great luck using the factory rack mount locations and triangulating the rack floor. This design spreads the load evenly over all the roof pillars at the same time. I tested it with four 200+ guys standing and jumping around up there with no signs of flex. So far, so good...

    surco safari rack

I built this rack and ladder because there weren't any big or strong enough. I used 7/8" DOM tube for both. The floor of the rack is triangulated so 3 people can hang out up there and it doesn't flex a 1/4".

Do I need an alignment again if I got new tires?

Toe-in is used to correct for the tire's trying to spread out at road speeds and under breaking. The factory measurements are assuming original tire size and perfect joints and bushings. Once you get some wear in the front end and go to larger tires, you may need to play around with different...

Opinions on welders, 220 or 110.

That Fabricator 181 is a great machine. I have the 252i version which has more power but basically the same unit. I also have owned one of their TIG machines for years and it has never let me down. It is an inverter machine and has very advanced features. It will be many years before you...

Opinions on welders, 220 or 110.

Go for the highest quality you can afford first and then size. Just because it is a 220 volt machine does not guarantee anything about the actual amp output or true duty cycle. The cheap units never quite live up to the advertised performance. Good units also will have better feed rollers and...

    98 wandering around

I'm looking for ideas on why my 98 with a 3" lift likes to wander around the road. It's not severe, I just have to constantly slightly correct. Here is what I checked so far: *all bushings and joints are tight *axle is centered in frame (Rusty's adjustable trac bar) *no cracks on frame at...
