    Electrical gremlins

Ooh. Dude. Yeah, get some electrical cleaner on there. I'd personally disconnect the battery and wait for about ten minutes, just so the capacaitor can shed it's stored juice. Get the cleaner and spray. I know some of the reallynice cleaners at part stores have some pretty high powered jets...

Broken Hood Release Writeup, With Pics.

On second glance, the pics are kinda big, and the formatting sucks. Sorry. I'll try and work on that. Anyway, hope this helps someone in the future.

Broken Hood Release Writeup, With Pics.

Here's a pic of two cables next to each other, with the grommets snugged up against the metal cable sleeve: Interesting side note, the ONLY difference between the two cables is that the one from my 2000 has some insulation wrapped around the cable. Interesting. My 91' has an entire insulating...

Broken Hood Release Writeup, With Pics.

rite-up I've done here. Figure it’s about time, seeing as how I have gained so much information from the site and you guys over the years. Hoping to kinda pass it on. Thanks in advance for future help. It's long and there are pictures. Hope you don't have ADD. There are a few issues covered in...

    Center Console install

If you crawl underneath your rig and put some slack in your parking brake cable, that may make it easier to yank the lever up far enough. Of course, doing that is a pain too... Hope you have at least one gear wrench if that's the route you choose to take.

Installed HD headlight harness now headlights stay on until ignition is turned off

88xjLover. there is a fuse for the DRL? I also have a 91 Canadian XJ and this is the first I have heard of it. I made GoJeeps Harness as well. I ended up pulling the DRL module, to avoid the buzzing from the relay caused by the DRL sending only six volts through the relay. I also ran a jumper...

Rear wiper light has gone out...new fuse or ??

It's a bulb. Just pull of the dash trim, (if you haven't done that before, there will be screws holding it in, if you HAVE done it before, most people find they stay put just fine without the screws...) unscrew the plate holding the switch with the dead bulb and flip it over. Just above the...

Disengage no start with clutch engaged

On my 2000 the owners manual had a note about disabling that. There is a small micro switch somewhere under the dash, on a wire secured to the clutch pedal I believe. It was buried in some oddball place in the manual though.

New to the Forum, could use help and or additional resources.

And if you have a manual transmission, there will be a tube with what LOOKS like a grease nipple on the end of it, coming out of the bellhousing. It's NOT a grease nipple. It's a bleeder screw. packing it full of grease will render it useless.

    Removing Rear Bumper End Caps

On my 91', it was actually a bolt with a really skinny, weird shaped head underneath a plastic cap. The head of it was about one third the height of a normal bolt head, and almost Torx shaped. A 3/4 inch wrench KINDA fit on it, but the head was also tapered, wider at the top than the bottom, so...

    Child's Play & Video Games

Anyone here play video games when you aren't working on your jeep? If you do, you probably know about the webcomic Penny Arcade. If you know about Penny Arcade, you should also know that their annual Child's Play fundraiser has kicked off. For those of you who don't know, Child's Play is a...

    Heated Mirrors?

This is confirmed. Plug and play on late body style XJ's. They turn onand off with the rear window defrost switch. That's also how I wired them up when I threw a set on my 91 with manual everything. Now it's just the way I want it. The only electronics in my doors are ones that won't...

    Skinny or wide in winter?

I'm trying to keep it to winter tires definitely, or at least all terrains with the "Severe Weather" rating for snow and ice. I kinda figured the opinions would stray toward skinny. Cool. But... Studs? I know they aren't illegal to run anywhere in Alberta. (Alberta is pretty slack when i comes...
