Thanks, I found Affordable Offroad, but not Bitwell when I was looking. Those both seem to be storage cubbies rather than access to the interior though.
This is a modification I haven't ever seen posted here. I saw this on a new forerunner and thought it made a lot of sense for reaching the cargo area when there is a rear spare-tire carrier.
I only added one of the driver's side for a few reasons
- they are expensive
- I really won't miss...
245/75r16 is working well on the current Jeep with ~2.5in lift. When I most recently replaced them I had a hard time finding that size not in 10-ply. Toyo Opencountry AT was pretty much my only option in 6-ply but I am happy with them.
I had 265/75r16 on the last Jeep with stock gears and...
I followed the jeepkings.ca rocker replacement recipe. 1/8th inch flat stock plug welded to the panel under the door and 1/8th inch angle iron welded behind the 2x4.
I probably didn't manage to slide the 2x4 directly against the vertical face of the angle iron so that got me a little...
I did the rockers on my last XJ with .188 wall 2x4.
I used .125 wall 2x4 for my current XJ
The silver XJ had an RE 3.5 inch lift, the maroon jeep has OME 2.5" lift. The jeep gets used for overlanding and hunting but the most likely thing to contact the rockers is the high-lift jack...
It could just be that the seal isn't in position. When you do drop the tank, maybe make an access hatch? There are some threads about it.
I had to change my fuel pump a few weeks ago and I was pretty happy to not have to lie in the snow to do it.
I tacked these in, but I am waiting to get new studs + a new donut gasket before reassembling.
I didn't mention yesterday, but there was a bunch of red grease with metal chips embedded inside the pipe. That is probably left over from bending/stretching but I wasn't excited about that junk...
Mine arrived on Thursday
The flange that mates it to the manifold is much bigger + is not quite the same. The restrictive dent is gone though.
The locking flange nuts I was using before aren't compatible. I don't thing regular hex spring locknuts will work either. It almost needs a conical...
I have Rusty's gas tank skid, transfer case skid, steering box brace, drop-transmission cross-member. These all do their jobs. The gas tank skid design improved between 2008 and 2015 and cleared my hidden-hitch without modification on the second one.
The steering box brace is better than the...
This is a 100w setup I added about three years ago. I think it was under $200 for the kit including panel, cables, charge controller AND the aluminum to attach it under the roof rails. It works great. I don't think at all about leaving the inverter on to charge phones/laptops. If I park in...
If 4th is working normally then the clutch is not the issue.
4th is drive - 1:1 ratio which doesn't use any of the gears. It sounds like one or more gears are not meshing because they either moved on their shafts or exploded. Even if the problem is just a broken snap ring it still means...
