My intake arrived today... woohoo!
I can't wait to get it installed so I can add the second battery I have had waiting to go in. now to send that rebate in and get some cash back... i'm sure i'll spend it on the XJ anyhow.
I have a '99 XJ Classic... it came with short roof rails. I wanted longer rails as well as a different system all together, so I could use some thule racks that I already owned. I went to the JY and got some rails off early XJ's... mabey '89 or '90 i think. Basically C-channel. It's easy...
If you like the fan you found online, then you could buy a few of them and mount them on the Dirtbound Offroad fan shroud... they sell it as a builders part... without any fans, for $49.99.

XJ cabin air filter
yes, i'm reviving this thread.... I just wanted to say that the filter is still available and i'm gonna put one in when I get the chance. I just picked up a "Wix" brand filter p/n 42360 at a local parts store and looks identical to the one that EHALL shows in his pic. I have...

Spectre Rebate...
hey there... I ordered the Spectre 9948 Intake Kit this week. If anyone is really considering this product, it is a great time to buy it... In the end it will cost me $119.
The kit is on at http://www.autoanything.com/ for $199 with free shipping in the U.S. If you go to...
the spectre filter for the 4.0l intake kits is listed on the website as p/n 889833... on the details page for the filter is states...
"Factory pre-oiled and ready to install. Use p/n 884820 Accucharge kit to clean and re-oil."
Treat it like a K&N filter.
Right now is a good time to buy one... the kits are $199 and summit racing has free shipping in the U.S. and to boot... there is a $50 rebate from Spectre Performance.

I have been considering this intake but have concerns about the flow as well. The filter used in this kit is spectre p/n 889833. It isnt listed in the details, but I emailed Spectre Performance and was told that it tested at 500 CFM. Some aftermarket filters test at 1600CFM, but they are much...
Dads XJ... do you know the part number of the filter they included with the THOR kit? I was looking on the green filter website but didn't know what one they used. If I want to build my own cowl intake, I might want to use the same filter.
i notice a lot of jeeps with 6-8" of lift are using front XJ driveshafts in the rear with a SYE, however, i am looking to put 3.5-4.5" of lift on my XJ. I also was given a 1994 XJ for parts. Here is what i was thinking, please let me know if anyone is running this setup and how it might...
why don't you consider cutting the rear out of two cherokees... put a rear hatch at both ends... and have two axles that are further apart. it would be heavier but pretty stable.
go to a fastener parts store... meaning a nuts and bolt supplier. they might have water-tight gromets or soething that will seal the hole completely. best place to start.
