so the actual splined output shaft is different? (i know theyre all 27 spline) or is it just the tail cone? basically i want to know if i can go to the junkyard and get just the tailcone off of a 95+ 231 and put it on my 92 231 to avoid having to buy the ironrock or re seal. if i have to take...
will the 95+ shorter 231 t-case fit my 92 with the longer tailshaft? im looking into making a junkyard sye and just wondering if it would solve my seal problems. thanks
does the porc kit work with a stock front driveshaft? it doesnt say on their website or anywhere else. i know the yoke is the same but what about length?
i know an "hd" sye is better but id rather not get into removing the t-case and taking it apart. i think a HnT is the way to go for me. went to the junkyard today and got another xj slipyoke and a front yoke from a 231. im going to ask my macininst friend what he can do to put them together. if...
ok ok. yall convinced me. anybody know of a hack and tap cheaper than ironrocks that will use the stock xj front driveshaft? it looks around 175 plus vshipping for the yoke, seal, bolts, tap and bits. i already bought a front shaft from the junkyard.
confession time. ive never driven offroad or built a jeep before. so i did my junkyard lift. going for 3", ended up at 4.5. (i welcome any questions on it) i dropped the t-case 1" and it killed most of the vibes. probably still need an sye but it can wait. what else do i have to worry about...
i got lucky and the one still on there was pretty tight. plus these old school "sawblade" wheels are about an inch thick(got the whole set with 31x10.5 all terrains for $40 after some craigslist bartering) i drove about 20 miles total. i guess i got another job checking angles this weekend. any...
so if i dont do an sye what wears out? this isnt a DD, its a third car for our family, a toy really. will it eventually lead me to figuring out how to rebuild a transfer case? id like to do it right but its alot of money. anybody ever crack the junkyard code on the yoke needed to run a cv...
yeah i think that happened in the 12 or so miles i drove home before i did the transfer case drop. they're not hitting now. waiting for my next day off for tire balance and alignment. i guess that will be the real tell if i have any more vibes
get ready for the punchline....you ready.... so im looking all over the internet pricing sye's and i get to thinking. i go out and check all the bolts that i took off for the rear lift and there all pretty tight still. i stand back to smoke a cigarette and guess what? i only have one lug nut...
i cant drive without the rear shaft because i have the old style case with the 3 bolt tail shaft. my first vibes were because of the slip yoke being out too far, i fixed that with the t case drop but now i think my rear pinion angle is way off. what exactly is an angle finder and where do you...
