I have exactly the same problem with my 2000 XJ today. What was the fix?

nightmare 10K after installing old man emu kit

The OLD EMU kit is a great product, I admit I do stress my vehicle a bit. I do have a bit of a lead foot as I get it up in 90's range quite frequently. I do have a slight oil leak but I just keep feeding the vehicle Castrol Edge 10W40. Everything else is good except the usual power lock issues...

nightmare 10K after installing old man emu kit

You are right, incompetent work, and probably parts made in China. I would love to work on it myself, the problem is lack of room, time and not having all the right tools. Firestone misdiagnosed the issue, they have lost my business. I'm still searching for a shop that's fair and knowledgeable...

nightmare 10K after installing old man emu kit

I just want to add that Milford Jeep is quite expensive but good. So when a coupon is available for a free checkup with Service I do take advantage of that. They are not open on the weekend or install 3rd party parts, so forget about brake upgrades or suspension kits but the old time mechanics...

nightmare 10K after installing old man emu kit

The kit is not to blame, I'm very happy with it, just that it puts a lot of strain on the original parts and if I did it over I would have replaced a lot of the stock stuff which seemed to be in good shape as per my last checkup with the local jeep dealer prior to executing this. My lesson...

nightmare 10K after installing old man emu kit

The installation of the old man emu medium lift kit - 1.5-2" went smooth and the vehicle felt fantastic for the first 10K. I am a daily commuter to NYC so the purpose of the kit is toughness from pot holes and surprises on the west side highway. All of a sudden one of U joints failed. That was...

    Eliminating the "tick, tick, tick"

My Jeep has been running rough for several years. Purchased some BG44K recently after using it successfully on my Discovery 2, threw it in with 1/4 tank. Now it runs very quiet. Got it for $12 a can on e-bay. Its worth a try.

    Cherokee and 16" wheels?

Bought my 2000 Cherokee Brand new at Island Jeep in NY with factory 16" rims and 225/70R16 Wrangler HPs. These Tires are the absolute worst even new.

Significant Braking improvement for OEM - just a few parts needed

Took the advise of my Land Rover Mechanic and Installed the following components on the front, 1000 miles ago and the results are astounding: (Takes about this mileage to break in properly) 1. EBC Brakes-Rotor; 3GD EBC Sport; Set of Two; Front; 11.0 in. Dia.; 78 mm High; 2. EBC Greenstuff 6000...

    Dueler AT REVO tires

I just purchased 235/70R16 REVO 2's and they are even better then the original ones. I went off-road in 1.5 ft show to see what they can do and they went through it like it was water. This is the perfect size for cherokee's with the 16" rims.

    Land Rover Discovery

Being the owner of both a 2000 XJ and a 2002 discovery 2, I can state my experience. The XJ is far more nimble and fast. The Discovery is more like a tank. I feel far more comfortable in Snow and Ice with the discovery. It's 4WD drive system is a work of art. It has been exceptionally reliable...
