    Are you sure its a d35? If your cherokee is a '94, it should have a chrysler 8.25 rear end. This could be the whole problem.

    transfer case in a durango?

    the NP242 has the full time 4wd and the NP231 is a part time 4wd t-case only. They also use different front drive shafts, not sure what they are called but im sure someone else here does.

    17" Wheels

    If your interested i have a nice set of 16" eagle alloys, there aluminum fit a cherokee and i belive there 8' wide, I can check and let me know if you want pics.

    Will a 2" lift on a '97+ need a SYE?

    You should only have to watch for vibes with 3+" of lift, then i would go with the Sye kit.
