Issue identified. The heater hoses which also feed the coolant tank were reversed. So the water pump was trying to push coolant into the tank all the time and it never would siphon back into the engine as it cooled.

New thermostat installed also, I can see it working, opening & closing on the temp. gauge at higher rpms. Fan clutch appears ok, heater hoses feel cool at idle which makes me feel like it's a water volume issue. I just assumed that because the heater is on the opposite side with RHD, the heater...

99 XJ leaking small of antifreeze only while warming up. Replaced radiator cap, problem fixed.

Our 99XJ would shift into 4th but the torque converter would not reliably lock up. I replaced the brake light switch assembly and the problem was solved.

I'm guessing the previous owner used that jumper as a "kill switch". If you have fixed the bad connection with the new plug and secured the jumper wire to chassis or battery ground, will the jeep start & run ok?

Has the distributer module been changed? That module can become flakey at certain temperatures and cause grief.

Our 97 idles rough, as you describe. I've checked compression on each cylinder, all good and well within spec. Have cleaned the throttle body, changed IAC, the coil, wires, distributer module. The next item on my list is to change out the injectors. Seems to be a difficult issue to resolve.

The grinding noise is likely the clutch throwout bearing. It spins when the clutch is disengaged. With the clutch not disengaging sometimes to shift into gear, probably time to replace the clutch & throwout bearing.

Wanted to replace the headliner on a 01 XJ & found little to no information on how to remove the A pillar trim. The FSM gives information on the older XJ's with the pop out screw covers & Phillips screw holding the trim on. Apparently it was never updated with the later production clips used...

Possibly could be the turn signal switch itself. Our 97 would flash both rear turns when the left turn was used. R&R the turn signal switch assembly resolved it.
