It has just under 213K on it, has ran like a top since I've owned it at about 130K. Get's regular oil changes not more than 5,000 miles, on a change, 3,000 miles more often.
So I'm having some lifter noise, a slight knocking, at idle on my '96 XJ 4.0. I purchased some Lucas Oil engine additive to hopefully reduce the noise when I change the oil this week. Has anyone had similar problems? Will this help my problem or should I be bracing myself for the worst?
I'm about to throw a Gibson cat back on along with a stainless steel header, keeping the stock catalytic converter though. Not sure how emission laws are in your state but here in Illinois '96 and newer vehicles still have to go through emissions tests. Without that cat I'd fail.
Yesterday my 96 XJ, close to bone stock, began acting up on me. Weather conditions were about 45 degrees and raining and driving along at about 50 mph it began bucking on me, when I let off the gas it would stop. At lower speeds of about 35 and under the bucking was not as severe but the revs...
This question will pertain to those who have installed a Warrior Products Safari Rack w/Gutter Mounts on your XJ. I just purchased this setup and I can't figure out for the life of me how to get the gutter mounts on, is says to tighten the carriage bolts to mount them securely to the gutter...
Right I'm just using my XJ as a daily driver and for trail runs for whenever I can get out on them. So you suggest and upgraded rotor just one without cross drills or slotting?
