Part # for the Coolant Temperature Sending Unit 1996 4.0L Classic

Have been to one dealer today and called a couple of others looking for a Coolant Temp Sending Unit for a 1996 4.0L Cherokee Classic with a coolant temp gauge, NOT the warning light. Drove @ a half an hour to dealer who said he had one in stock. When I got there he showed me a part that look...

    Look...fuel pressure test video

This is my first Jeep with the 4.0L inline six so I am not sure if the behavior I believe I sense is just par for the course or something to look into. From time to time it seems that while under load the engine skips a beat, so to speak, nothing insane, or may even be my imagination. Also...

    Look...fuel pressure test video

Additionally, while performing a volume test I collected about 3.5 ounces of fuel over 15 seconds or .233 ounces per second. Don't know what the designed operating rate is...but, does anyone think this rate could indicate a clogged fuel filter?

    Look...fuel pressure test video

Thanks for reply. I agree that the pressure looks appropriate, it's the flutter and bleed down with the key "on" that makes me wonder if there are any pressure irregularities in the system. :dunno:

    Look...fuel pressure test video

With key in "On" position gauge needle strikes @ 50 psi for a moment then bleeds down to 40 psi. At idle needle flutters between what looks like 49-50 psi? Even took gauge off of air filter housing to ensure that it was not engine vibration causing needle flutter. The engine had been run about...

Defeated by Valve Cover? Kind of...any ideas?

I tried to remove those but could not figure it out. It's like there is some lock combination I did not get...turn Left 3, Right 44, Left 17...:lock: By the looks of it someone already tried on the radiator side PCV as it was cracked when we bought it.

Defeated by Valve Cover? Kind of...any ideas?

Yes the engine compartment, etc., is very clean, we just bought this around 2 months ago, after looking at some dogs, comparatively. The previous owner had service records stacked about 1/4 of an inch. Needless to say I jumped on this Cherokee immediately. Also they had used Mobil 1 for life of...

Defeated by Valve Cover? Kind of...any ideas?

Thanks for the response. Coupla questions; When you say remove hoses from the clip, do you mean from the hose clamps? If so, should I assume that if I remove the hoses they will spew fluids? If not, which clip are you referring to? Thanks.

Defeated by Valve Cover? Kind of...any ideas?

Though hardly considered a mechanic, I have done work on my '96 Cherokee, e.g. changed diff fluids, rear main seal, oil pump, and other stuff that I thought would be characterized as "harder" than a valve cover gasket replacement. So I got a lil' sassy yesterday and undertook replacing the...

Cherokee Clutch Pedal Assembly Discontinued...Now What?

Turns out the weld that connects the lever to the clutch push rod...broke. Shop welded it up and I placed it back in and we are back on the road. Gonna keep my eyes peeled for a "back up" clutch pedal at Pick n Pulls. Also I noticed from the service records kept by prior owner that this...

Cherokee Clutch Pedal Assembly Discontinued...Now What?

Thanks for the pic and the background info. I think I am going to get the Cherokee towed back home from AAA shop & see if I can fab something myself. Chrysler dealership is looking into how they would address this but I think they might be in same boat as the AAA shop, i.e. either wait for a...

Cherokee Clutch Pedal Assembly Discontinued...Now What?

Shop located the break & said there appears to be some sort of ball joint that has deteriorated. Happened late in afternoon yesterday at intersection and I had to get it towed to shop. Since it was dusk I did not get good look at it. I may just get it towed back home and head to Pick n Pull.

Cherokee Clutch Pedal Assembly Discontinued...Now What?

Will scope it out. Hopefully the entire assembly is interchangeable as pedal is ok but the connection between it and clutch assembly is broken. Did a search and found a few similar threads but diid not see a solution. Thanks.
