The last one I replaced, the metal just snapped on one side and the other side started to crack as well. I guess from the weight and bouncing around of the tire. And its only the two rear ones, which is where the tire sits over. Do you have a lot of weight on yours?
I have a Surco roof rack with gutter mounts. I had my 33x12.50 spare up there for a while but had to take it off due to the fact that the mounts kept breaking with the weight of the spare and the bad roads here in VA. Surco sells a different set of mounts that go directly on the factory rails...
Asking around the forums to see if anybody has ever used or know someone who has tried one of these..

I'd like to take my spare tire,33" on a 15x10, off my rack and mount it on the back. Future plans call for a bumper but...
I believe its a stock AW-4 and I've check the trans fluid seems to be fine. I'll have to check the mounts. Sounds like another thing to add to the list of things i need to do.
So this never happens when the jeep is cold but when it warms up and I reverse and put it into drive I hear this clunk,not all the time, coming from the back. Low differential fluid?
