    16" wheels for a 2001 XJ

Here's my problem I buy my tires at Costco. I like their warranty and service. I have a set of P225-75-15 Michelin X Radials, which I have 65K miles on them. I need to replace them, but Michelin stopped making that size tire. The only tires they sell are the BF Goodrich Long Trail TA's Touring...

Thanks for the info. It's the rear main line, not very difficult to replace. I wasn't sure if it was SAE or Metric, so I bought both in various lengths. It turned out that a didn't know that there are 2 types of flares, and i bought 1 normal, which was metric, and three inverted flares. Anyway I...

    97+ center console insert options

No dummy plate. If you have the smokers option it comes with a ashtray and a lighter. The ashtray slips into the "change holder".

Rear Shock Nutsert Replacements: Weld or ???

Tab Nuts, That's a great Idea! I wonder if McMaster-Carr has them? I drilled and tapped my 97. I bought a 5/16 tap and drill set at Home Depot. New drill and tap makes all the difference. I have a tap wrench, that the slide bar come's off and has a 1/4" square on the top so you can put a long...

I had the same problem, along with the rear defroster stopped working. Turned out to be some broken wires in the boot at the top of the lift gate.

    A/C Quit On Me

If it's low, the Freon is leaking somewhere. I would suspect a bad evaporator. They are famous for this. I have replaced them in my 97 and my 01. It's not a bad job, but will take you all day and some more, and you don't have the equipment you will have to take it to someone to pull a vacuum and...

    Calling audio gurus

What's the big deal?? If it's a 97 -2001, Grab the cover bezel from underneeth and carefully pull it off. The radio mount is held in with two 10mm self tapping screws. Remove them and the radio comes out. Shouldn't take longer than 3 minutes.

    License plate light problem

Check the wire harness where it enters the gate. I had to make up a new one for my 97. The harness is one piece that starts behind the spare tire. It's expensive from the dealer, so I went to the auto sound store and bought 3 feet of about 7 different colors of 16ga. wire, soldered and heat...

Can't move shift lever while car is moving

Hi I have a 2001XJ, and I can't manually downshift when the car is moving. I can downshift in my 97. Is this some sort of "feature" on the 2001? I'd like to disable it.
